    Dear rranga,
You can make it like vendaikkai puli pachadi, but adding more jaggery & sauting pavakkai very well in oil on a low fire to reduce the bitterness.
    Love,
    Chithra.

Re: Tips required to break jaggery

you can keep it in the microwave for a min or two and then pound it with a rolling pin (chappathi kozhavi) .. the heat makes it really soft and makes it easy to break. if u keep it for long, the heat will even melt the jaggery to a liquid. vella paagu veikka this is a short cut method to melting jaggery.

Welcome to IL, Sivagami - you have reached home (though a NRI) in every way!!
I am thrilled with your FB - a true Pongal gift to me!!
Yes, both have to be dry roasted to get a good flavour. Do try it - it is a less common recipe with vazaipoo.
Stay tuned with us at IL.The pleasure will be yours! The privilege will be ours!!!
    Love,
    Chithra.

    Chithumma, My Dear,

I have plans of making Kesari for, say, 15 people(may be, 15 servings of 1/4 cup kesari. If you think that 1/4 cup of kesari is more or less for a serving with so many other heavy items in the menu, please correct me and give measurements according to your idea). How many cups of rava do I have to use?

    Love You, Chithumma...

The minimum, you must make is with 2 cups of rava. May be 2 1/2 cups will save you some for home, as well!
    Love,
    Chithra.
