    Hello ILs

Please share tips on how to clean a greasy chimney grill...by grill i mean the metal plate thro which the fumes are absorbed.

Mine is really greasy as the lady who was using it earlier seems to have never bothered to clean it! :(
I tried Cif/ Easy Off Bang/ Pril etc....still some grease is left. Appreciate ur inputs.

    Thanks!
    Shweta

i soak the whole chimney plate in a tub full of hot water with surf powder in it. after 15-20 minutes i scrub it with a big brush. it is sparkling clean. i do it every month so there is not much grease on it.

In USA we run them through the dishwasher. If aluminum it gets discolored but we ignore that due to ease of cleaning.

Soak them in a bucket of warm water until the greases softens a bit...maybe for an hour. Then clean with scortch brite.Don't scrub too hard as you will get scratches. To clean the corners use an old toothbrush.

    Hi Siv,

Hope you have cleaned it by now :)

Whatever be a greasy surface its always better to use Surf powder add little vanish to it. Vanish will take away the darkness of the grease and surf will remove it totally. ! Use a scrubber to wash it and keep it in sunlight. So that it wont get rust :)

I have not used Mr Muscle ladies.! May be ill try that too next time!

    Regards,
    Bhargavi

A very good cleaner for cleaning all the stains and oil grease which many of us are not aware is .......

    Thinner.

Yes,we use it as nail polish remover in a diluted form and of better quality.I knew its usage when a painter used thinner for cleaning spilled paint drops in floor and door.

I tried it on my old steel ward robe exterior and it worked.Thinner removed all the stains from my washing machine exterior, fridge (the handle part mainly),wooden doors, stubborn stains on floor, dirty switches.

So far, wherever I used ,it worked.Yes,in chimney too.

    Usage method.

Dip a cotton cloth in thinner and wipe gently over the surface to be cleaned.

    Caution.

Thinner is volatile. So,close the container tightly after every usage.

Do not rub vigorously over painted surfaces.Sometimes, paint may worn out.

Thinner is available in all paint shops.Try it out.
