    Family Planning - Tubal Sterilization

    Hi,

Reg. Tubal Sterilization, I read in the Internet and heard from my Gynec. that this method of family planning is permanent. This is true I think.

I remember(50%), i read in magazines after the Tsunami period(long back- India), Families whoever lost their kids had kids even when the ladies had the tubal sterilization.Do anyone heard abt this or am I wrong? Pls. throw some light on this.

Since I'm going to deliver my second baby next week...we're still confused though we don't have idea for another baby. But I'm like a ball getting hit bt my DH and my mom...since they cannot converse..i'm the middle one suffering...my mom wants me to go for this....my DH ,for safer side not interested in this process.....

Pls. ladies...pen down some inf. on this, which is going to be very valid for me...Don't mistake if anything wrong in this msg...

    Thanks,
    Pinky.

If you have hesitation to go for permanent, consider IUD like Mirena...your gyn will insert it for you 6 weeks after delivery(if normal delivery). The insertion is through the vagina and is painfree and takes only about 2-3 minutes. It is effective for 5 yrs after which you can get your gyn to remove that and insert another or instead consider a permanent one then.

Re: Family Planning - Tubal Sterilization

In tubal sterilization, you can either get your tubes tied, or cut and cauterized. First case is possible to reverse, but in the second case, in vitro fertilization would be the only possible method in case you want to concieve again. The main advantage is its very effective, esp the cauterization. It can cause mentural cramps later on, though

    Safe method for protection

Of all the methods available in the market now in India and US, what is the safe method to stop further conception? Can you please advise? Thanks

    Re: Safe method for protection

    Hello Nidhi,
This was a question when I delivered my DS almost an year and half by now. There are several methods in India, out of them
    1. Contraceptive Pills
    2. IUI
    3. External meechanism like Condomes
    4. Love making during safe period.
IF you are looking for a permenant contraception, Tubectomy is the best operation.
All these methods are effective but sometimes may fail.
Most of the gynics suggest IUI technique whch avoids further conceiving for atleast 5 years.
But I heared from some my friends that it may cause heavy bleeding during periods time.
External technique sometimes may fail due to various reasons.
Safe period also one more technique but conception is all depends on woman's cycle, cycle duration,Ovulation period etc. So, we can't say safe period is the safest always.
Contraceptive pills may be used for sometime (upto 2 years) based ib gynic's advice.
So, these are just overview of various methods. You can consult your gynic and take her recommondation and choose the best method.

    Re: Safe method for protection

    Hi,

In addition to all the techniques listed by Priya_mommy, my gynaec had suggested another option as well. She had said that there was some injection that needed to be taken every month(or every 3 months - don't remember exactly now). This she said was fine, but that one has to be very careful in remembering the date for the next injection, or else you could run a risk of conceiving. I assume that this must be some hormonal injection, but I could be wrong as well.

I suggest that you discuss the pros and cons of all the methods/options with your gynaec and hubby and then choose one that you are comfortable with.

    Regards,
    Poornima.

    Avoiding immediate/unwanted pregnancy

    Dear Friends,
Can anyone suggest me if we can use a ovulation kit for the purpose of knowing safe days? How does it work? Or we cant use it for this purpose?
