Not posting for medical advice. I just need some thoughts or suggestions.

My husband is 42 years old and never had high blood pressure before. He has been complaining about dizziness, fever, and chills for the past week. He saw the primary doctor and he did some blood work.
Blood work was normal except for elevated cholesterol. The doctor told him to do some diet changes and asked him to come back in 3 months.

My husband noticed a small bump on his underarms and it started as a pimple. The size increased a bit the next day and we went immediately to the ER. The ER doctor said it's an abscess and has to be drained out. They did the procedure.

When they checked my husband's vitals when we were there, the blood pressure was very high. When we were in the lobby, they said his blood pressure was very low and checked again and it came out high. Like 172/105. She sent us to the room and they checked a few times there and it was always elevated. 160/100.

I was very concerned about this high BP values and asked the Dr. He said they don't treat blood pressure here and my husband is otherwise asymptomatic. Told us to follow up with my primary care doctor.

They checked before we left and it was around 160/103. So the Dr gave us a very mild dosage of blood pressure medicine and asked us to follow up with PCP on Monday. They said they don't treat the high BP when the patient didn't have other symptoms right now.

We came home and I checked his blood pressure at home and it was elevated again. We are trying to be calm and wait to see the PCP next week. My husband is very worried why the values are showing this high suddenly and constantly elevated.

Other than medicines, anything that helps to bring down the blood pressure? Does anyone have had high blood pressure before? Whether it takes a while to drop down?
    Thanks.
