Okay.. thanks for the 15 views:thumbsup

Well, during the course of the day I have a load of information about PON Vidyashram (Valasaravakkam) that can fill a 400 page book.

I spoke to parents of children who are currently attending school and that includes my niece and nephews too. For the benefit of others I will write some info here.

** I'm opting out of choosing this school for very many reasons and the top one being Exorbitant fees of Rs. 62K..(WOW i never paid that kind of amount even for my professional course.) No interview...No mention about what they offer...The school management was not even ready to respect the parent for even 62 seconds for that kind of fees they coolly ask..That too to be paid in hot cash single time down payment. No installments..:bonk
The application form does not even ask for a photograph of my child or any medical record.. whatsoever:rant. They are interested in only pocketing the money asap.

**There are to bring shift system even for PRE KG classes.. the second shift being 11.30 am to 2 pm.. which I'm not OK. If you insist for morning shift then pay 10 K extra. Preference given for already exiting children (who are in playgroup of that school) or whoever have registered earlier.

**There is nothing called student teacher ration et all. Each class is having about 40 children and that run up to section "J" and they have 2 shifts. One teacher to man 40 children of pre KG.. children who does not know to speak properly . whom arent potty trained too well.. God knows how that teacher and one AYAH will do the magic! LOL....NUTS!!:bonk

** School infrastructure... Theres water logging problem since the school is in very low lying area and my niece was given about a months holiday this monsoon. Now they have raised and filled sand in the play ground for about 3 ft.. resulting in all the class room on ground floor looks like basement and all the KG classes are in basement. So this monsoon i'm sure they will close for another month.

My assessment about this school barring the teaching( which i found from other parenting forums is that its ok).. the school is not worth 62 cents..They are simply using the brand name and pocketing our hard earned money for nothing.

I'm not ready to lose self respect(most parents complained that the mgmt. don't listen to grievances) and feel humbled before them after paying more a half a lakh and losing my peace of mind over the above said conditions.

I'm choosing a different school for every ones good. THANKGOD!

    aishu,

M is going to pre-kg!! time flies..but i thought you were put up at m..why valasaravakkam.

Pon vidyashram has negative feedbacks, and if you go through previous posts there is discusion on this..

coming to the fees, most of the schools are charging up of 50k this year. education does not come cheap. and fyi, a btech in a university that is no where related to the ala creme is costing 1 lack each semester without the other sundries, like hostel, food, books,projects.. welcome to the rat race is all that i can say.

it is not just this school that has sections upto j, there are many schools with j and each having a 70 student on the roll...if you want 15:1 you need to look at schools that cater the same but with a huge fees.. one of my acquaintances put her daughter in lkg in a school in saidapet at 1.1lacs/annum

I reside in Valasaravakkam and my son is in II std at Pon Vidhyashram,Valasaravakkam.
He joined in I std and fees was around 41k.For II std it was around 22k.Yet to get communication about next year's fee.

Yes there was water logging and school was closed for a long time which they tried to compensate.
My personal opinion is that they can improve their infrastructure.

Even I came to know about the two shifts very recently.

My son is doing ok in studies and he's comfortable at school. So no idea to change currently.
BTW which school have you finalized (If you like to share )

Thanks for coming here Shanthi. Sorry was held up with many other things.
I agree with you.But IMO.. Pre KG - children should be molded fine and they do need special attention. So i'm definitely not for 40-45 class or for fancy schools who in the name of education do business and business only. 11 am to 1pm shift for Pre kg is another Stupid time..where in many children of that age 2.5 yrs will be fast asleep post lunch .. again JMO.

@ Fathima - I have admitted her in Little Millennium formerly known as Roots to Wings. Their system is very good. But the school has only upto UKG which is a concern. But I'm not denying my child the freedom and right education (play way method) etc. which is very much needed for PRE KG. The school is too good.

    Dear Aisu Sister,

Sorry to understand that today's scenario expecially KG schools are more commercialised rather than being schools of noble kind.

I have heard Chettinad "A" school is good and have opened up in many areas which takes you to the main school.

Thanks for dropping in and updating the info which have gathered for others not getting fooled, though I have NO school going children, just wanted to appreciate your gesture.

Best wishes and keep coming to IL with updates...

    Hi Aishu,

Very good feed back and lot of info you had shared which will be a eyeopener for many..

I guess my brotherinlaw's daughter studies their in Little milliennum Pre Kg...during my last visit to India in December...i saw all her school works..i heard theirschool activities through my cosister...i was very impressed...she was drawing all shapes...i felt very good...i guess its 32k /annum right....good choice...

I was shocked with the ratio and mainly fee/..mygod...here education system is very good aishu...

They respect parents...pay very good attention towards each student...my kid goes topreschool (Prek-3)her class ratio is 10students 2 teachers...i would say this is high strength compare to other shift...i send her to afternoon shift(11.30-2.30p.m) morning(7.50a.m-10.30a.m) and Prek-4 its just 5students and 1 teacher.
