    Hey gals,

I need some information about the bluecross insurance. The co-payment is 40$ (which is very high compared to other insurance companies). We are planning to have a baby and my current gynecologist suggested me to see a infertility specialist. The problem is my insurance covers upto 2000$ only for infertility treatment and i am told that the treatment will cost more than 5000.

So my question is anybody has the bluecross insurance? Is there any other options to minimize the cost which i hv to pay out of my pocket.

    thanks...

I also have blue cross insurance. Its not insurance specific, its what kind of coverage your employer has procured for you. For me, insurance covers 100% of everything...
However in your case, you can think of putting rest of 3000$ in Flexible spending account (FSA).. This money comes from your salary only. But its pre-tax, hence you will have 33% benefit.

    Hope this helps.

What Ria has said is correct - health insurance depends on the plan your employer has provided - there are some where you have a copay or you may have a deductible. If you are putting money in the flex spending plan, hope you have already done it - the deadline for 2008 is typically Dec of the previous year. Our deadline was last week. Many insurance plans dont cover fertility treatment at all - if yours is covering to some extent, that is pretty good. The reality is health insurance costs are sky rocketing and employers are cutting back.

    Hi Ria and Shobana,

Thanks for replying to my post. I really appreciate your help. As you guys told we have already enrolled to FSA.

I agree with you shobana....the cost for the treatment is not at all reachable. So lets see how it works.

    bye
