Need clarification about visa status

    Suppose a person goes from India to usa on h4 visa and then gets a sponsor and gets h1 visa and then leaves her job . what will be her visa status then . Will it change back h4?

    Hi,

    If your sponsor is like job consultancy services and is willing to continue the sponsorship till you get another job, then the status remains h1b for a shorter term when you are in bench.

    But normally when you quit the job and were in employer sponsored h1b, when you take up another job your new employer should transfer the h1b to their name or sponsor a new one. If you don't take up a job, then it changes to h4.
