Navratri Golu Contest - October 2011

This year celebrated golu in a grand manner with the help of my daughter
The golu padi had 9 steps.
1st Ganesha Tanjore painting(kept in a shelf)
2nd Mahavishnu , Shiva & Dashavatram
3rd Devis in various names & forms
4th Nava Shakthi ofi Durga
5th Tirupathi Bramhotsavam & Srirangam Vishnu
6th Kalyanam blessed by Lord Kailsha Shiva Family & Arupadai Murgan & 3 roopams of Mahavishnu
7th Tirupathi Garudai sevai,Rama Patabishekam & Gopika dancing with Lord Krishna
8Th Ashta Lakshmi with temple & Jalakredai of Krishna & in Boat with Radha
9Th Kalasham , Mara Pachi
On the left seperately we kept Kamakshi Thanga ratham procession led by 3 Kanchi
Saints
On the whole we enjoyed with all our well wishers & friends

 

hi i did the decorations of all the dolls. they are actually marapaachi bommais. i stitched a velvet cloth as a base and then stitched the pearls on to it. most of the items are hand made. only some got ready stuff from raja market in bangalore.

hi i did the alangaram for the marapaachis myself. most of the jewellery is hand made. dressing also i did it myself.regardingsome of the jewellery , bought it from raja market in bangalore.

 

Hi I am Manjusai this is my first year golu/ navrathri. i am very much interested in navrathri from my childhood seeing vatsala mami.Its a dream that i could make it some day like hers. i will. I couldnt make it even a single step like her's who has won the third prize from Times of india :thumbsup this year. We used to do lots and lots of help to her in cleaning the dolls and arranging them and we use to help even to pack them on the last day .It was a great fun :rotflthose days later on i felt and asked my mom y dont we too start the navrathri in our house but my mom's reply it's not practice or tradition in our family. After when i got married i got to know my mil has navrathri tradition. In the first year i joined them and enjoyed the lot. After that i couldnt make it b'cos of i am far away. the dream remained the dream these years.

Atlast i have tried somewhat with the things which i get in this far behind country:rant. I just want to show my one and i know that i could not compete with others.



Sivan and parvathi in the 3 rd photo i made it in home and also i made the hat girl in the third step next to the fairy girls.

manju,i loved your dolls...all are looking very cute...especially the rama,sita,lakshman,hanuman on the boat..sita's posture is too romantic ;-) have never seen such idol...i just loved it '

Actually it is my sixth Golu.My daughter has also done some grill work decoration on the last step.
Probably if permitted i will show the photo after the competition. On the both the sides we had put some 4.5ft artificial plants also
