Hi all Now i want to share about SONDA MUTT.

    Cm lets share the details,

The lack of rains in Bangalore and the sultry weather conditions drove me to make a quick plan to head to the Western Ghats. The choice of destination was a non-descrepit place called Sonda in Sirsi district.

Sonda is small little village in the Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district situated at a distance of around 450km from Bangalore and 20km from Sirsi. It is mostly known as a pilgrimage center due to the presence of three prominent Mutts: the Swarnavalli Mutt, the Vadiraj Mutt and the Jain Mutt. These attract hundreds of pilgrims mostly through out the year. The green surroundings, typical to the Malnad area of Sonda and Sirsi add to the serenity of these places of religious importance.
History: Not aware of a lot of history, but Sonda happens to be the seat of Shree Vadiraja Theertha and is one of the 8 Mutts that govern the Krishna temple in Udupi. I have visited this place on at least 2 previous occasions. The temple itself is around 700 yrs old and Shree Vadiraja Theertha was the 20th guru in the lineage of Shree Madhwacharya Theertha, who propounded the Dwaitha philosophy of Hinduism. The current head of this Mutt is the 36th guru and goes by the name of Shree Vallabha Theertha. The previous guru, Shree Vishvesha Theertha passed away in 2007 after heading the Mutt for more than 50 yrs.
The temple complexes are set in a peaceful surrounding with many gardens. Most of the surrounding areas are green and are a sight for sore eyes.

The Sonda mutt is approached by road through beautiful, verdant, thick forests, tall hills and river.

As one nears the Sode Mutt, first to be sighted is the lake known as Hayagriva Samudra. Towards the west of this lake stands a Dvaja sthamba in front of the Rama Thrivikrama temple. Both the Lord's vehicles - the Hamsa and Garuda are depicted on this Dvaja sthamba.

    <v:shape style="WIDTH: 240pt; HEIGHT: 180pt; VISIBILITY: visible; mso-wrap-style: square" id=BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353599814912045506 href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_EJ1qFqMupzE/SkvOqsVt8cI/AAAAAAAABBo/kxzTr0jcUqE/s1600-h/P5130028.JPG" o:button="t" alt="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_EJ1qFqMupzE/SkvOqsVt8cI/AAAAAAAABBo/kxzTr0jcUqE/s320/P5130028.JPG" type="#_x0000_t75" o:spid="_x0000_i1028"><v:fill o:detectmouseclick="t"></v:fill><v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image003.jpg" o:title="P5130028"></v:imagedata></v:shape> Hayagriva Samudra

The Rama Thrivikrama temple consists of three parts - the sanctum sanctorum with the lovely idol of Lord Thrivikrama, the stone chariot used for transporting the Lord's idol and the idol of Sri Lakshmi Devi in the chariot.

To the south of this temple stands a stone inscription recording the grant of land to the temple by Arasappa Nayaka and connected events

To the north of the temple and down some 24 steps is the Rajangana which also houses the mutt's offices. Here is the entrance to the mutt, the puja mandir (ananthaasana), stores and kitchen.

Further down a flight of 24 steps, is the 'Dhavala Ganga' pushkarini along with a smaller 'Sheethala Ganga' tank nearby. The waters of these tanks are believed to be a confluence of all holy rivers of India. Around the pushkarini are located several small temples consecrated by Sri Vadiraja Teertha-Sri Chandramouleshwara on the south, Sri Veera Anjaneya on the west, Sri Santhana Venugopalaswamy on the north.

    <v:shape style="WIDTH: 240pt; HEIGHT: 180pt; VISIBILITY: visible; mso-wrap-style: square" id=BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5353601568388390130 href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_EJ1qFqMupzE/SkvQQwjDnPI/AAAAAAAABCI/rphqaQc6WIo/s1600-h/P5140038.JPG" o:button="t" alt="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_EJ1qFqMupzE/SkvQQwjDnPI/AAAAAAAABCI/rphqaQc6WIo/s320/P5140038.JPG" type="#_x0000_t75" o:spid="_x0000_i1027"><v:fill o:detectmouseclick="t"></v:fill><v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image004.jpg" o:title="P5140038"></v:imagedata></v:shape>

Towards the east of the pushkarini is situated the pancha vrindavans with the vrindavan of Sri Vadiraja Teertha situated in the centre surrounded by four more vrindavans forming a perfect square. In front of the vrindavans is the temple for Sri Vedavyasa. On the right (to the south) of the vrindavans is the temple for the Kshetrapala - Bhootharaja. To the north is the naga vana. It is a tradition to roll coconuts here. We had bought coconuts from the mutt’s office before coming downstairs.

Also situated near the pancha vrindavans are four moola vrindavans and five mruttika vrindavans.
    <v:shape style="WIDTH: 300pt; HEIGHT: 210pt; VISIBILITY: visible; mso-wrap-style: square" id=Picture_x0020_29 href="http://picasaweb.google.co.in/microrao/Sirsi?authkey=Gv1sRgCLbtvczx_87irgE&feat=embedwebsite#5324936034108503474" o:button="t" alt="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_ZLnVVOavIGo/SeX5HDy29bI/AAAAAAAACGk/sJF0pi6hMF0/s400/sirsi17.jpg" type="#_x0000_t75" o:spid="_x0000_i1025"><v:fill o:detectmouseclick="t"></v:fill><v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\Admin\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtmlclip1\01\clip_image007.jpg" o:title="sirsi17"></v:imagedata></v:shape>
The latest addition (inaugurated in 2000) is the Akhyaana Mandira situated in front of the pancha vrindavans.

It is a tradition to roll coconuts here. We had bought coconuts from the mutt’s office before coming downstairs.

Rooms are available through the temple administration itself, though they get full during weekends. If rooms are unavailable, administration will provide safe lockers @ Rs 15/- per day!

The temple provides lunch and dinner.
