my MIL I believe is only one of her kind. I want to dedicate this thread to her. She is the most jealous person I have ever known.

Casual evening. H says to me let's go for a walk. MIL is on phone. I say let's not. He insists, saying will be back in 5 minutes. So we go. We walked so fast (I pushed him) and came back in less than 6 mins as I knew of the upcoming storm. MIL was not home. 10 mins later MIL comes back huffing and puffing, says, where did you guys go? I searched everywhere for you (very casually and smiley, I leave to the kitchen). H says we just went for a quick walk. MIL says to H you should have called me. H says you were on phone. MIL says I came right behind you but you guys disappeared somewhere. Looks like you didn't wanted me in. H says but ma you were on phone. MIL says I looked everywhere on the road but you guys left me. I am sure you didn't want me in. H says ma you were on phone. So just went for a quick walk. MIL says you don't care for me. H now super irritated says I will never go for a walk again.

Who suffered in all this? Me. Thanks to my H.

    Another one tomorrow.

You suffered noooo, MIL suffered poor lady wasn't she all huffing and puffing.
Next time, when dh asks for a walk/any where for that matter don't come back home running in 6mins, make it an hour or more. We don't really have to give in to our jealous Mils do we ???

Do you have a FIL?...tell her to go for a walk with him.
Next time tell your husband to respond like" Yes we didn't want to take you because we wanted to hold hands and go for a romantic walk like couples. "

    no hope 2b,
    you are not alone.
When my baby was born my mil came to see the baby. She wasn't there for my entire pregnancy. So my mom was there to take care of me. the day I came form hospital, My Dh went to market to buy some things for the baby.He was going out with my FIL but wanted a lady to come to. So asked my MIL. She refused cos it was her usual time for long evening puja. So DH asked my mom who agreed. As MIL got to know my mom was going with them she ran from puja room to the living room when they were just going out and looking at them dropped in the sofa and started crying openly leaving everybody confused!! When both DH and FIl asked what happened, she threw a hateful look at my mom and said "what can happen to me, I am not so important a person to have anything happening to me na!"!!!

Oh I am so happy to get your responses ladies. This has made me hyper. I want to share so much.

My MILs brain or heart does not have DIL and her minimum rights listed out. Her dictionary completely is clueless about the word privacy.

Hi Shobha, glad your H at least could ask your mom. In my case my H is not allowed to speak my parents. I will give more details on that later.

    But moving on:
An evening time 7 pm. MIL has headache. Tells me will sleep for half hour. Will eat after that. Meanwhile H returns from work and asks for food. We both proceed to kitchen and are talking something and serving food in plate. All of a sudden MIL is standing behind and says, may be if I was dead then you will give some food to FIL. We turned around. And she is going on. The time was 8 pm. Apparently I being DIL was lacking common sense to put food to FIL when I knew that MIL was ill. Lesson learned from that event: always put food items ready for them first, then call them for food, then eat. Have been following that ritual for few years. Added bonus H provides company while they eat. I had to as well but that has evolved and changed as I have a kid now.

Hope2B..this incident seems like its taken out of my house. She won't say it in the way like your mil, but she will be sweetly asking did you give any food to fil. He is old, can't tolerate hunger, need to take tablets etc. My mind voice will say I prepare dinner and give him by 8.30 max. (I'll finish preparation by 8.15-8.20. Fil will eat by 8.30 only.) What about his hunger and health, when you give him dinner by 9 or 9.30.

P.S. There is another poster in in-laws forum and I use to quite look forward for her updates about her ils. Sadly no updates from her for sometime now and I guess your ILs are gonna take that place. Keep updating us. Happy Sharing:welcome

    Hi hope2b,
It recently happened at our home also..if our Dh points out any mistakes of them, mils will act as if they didn't hear...if he keeps on repeating then all of sudden they will chage the topic which in no way relates to what they were talking earlier...as we stay at kerala, we will visit our in laws once in 2months who were living in Tn, so whenever we get time we visit our kula deivam temple..one day she was dusting the house(just to tell her sons that me and my co sister were not maintaining the house properly)...so me, my Dh and kid left to temple. At that time she told us bye smiling only..once after returning to kerala, my dh called her..at that time she started crying over phone that we people left her at home without taking her to temple....you will not do like this before, wherever you go you will call me first, but now your wife came, you are not taking me anywhere with you....It happened a year before, but still my mil remembers this with wet eyes.....
