My husband says I have to make something special on weekends! Is that how it happens every Sunday? I don’t know what to make every Sunday. Do you all make special lunch on Sunday? Can u suggest lunch ideas on Sunday? We are pure vegetarians!

Ya same here , even my husband wants me to make special food items on sundays.. sometimes pulao biriyani or chapati paratha or poori with special gravy sabji etc.
Sometimes I have to search online for good recipes to experiment. But if it requires more efforts I’d require all family members to pitch in and help with prep work like cutting veggies etc.

Ask him to give some examples of what dishes he wants.
My mother would always make an elaborate lunch on Sundays when we were all still at home, though my dad is never fussy about food.
Something like roti/paratha, paneer dish, chole, biryani/pulao and raita for North Indian meals. Or she would make special rasam and sambar, two varieties of poriyal, pachadi, fried papads, salad, curd rice with lots of additions and sweet item if we were having South Indian food.
Our weekdays meals were tasty but simple: the standard South Indian fare of rice, rasam, sambar, vegetable and curd so the weekends were a treat for us. These days though with cooks and takeout even the daily meals seem to have become much more elaborate.
You can also suggest to your husband to go out for Sunday lunch so you get a break from cooking.

Why don't you ask him what special dishes does he want?

In my case my husband doesn't demand but my elder daughter demands. I tell her clearly instead of me breaking my head why don't you do that job. Use your brains atleast for this if not studying. Only condition I gave her is ingredients should be mostly at home. I can't go in search of ingredients for the so called dish.

So these days she tells me a day before be it South Indian or North Indian or continental.

My daughters are only 13 and 7 but they demand more. I mean they also adjust a lot but generally demand different cuisines.I thank my mil for bringing up my husband to eat whatever is cooked. Even she is like that. She always tells you do whatever you can ma or else ask your daughters what they want and cook accordingly.

I also wanted to say same. Every household has different dynamics between husband and wife and between kids and parenting style. Do what your husband likes and what is doable within your comfort limits.

In our case, we both work. I work almost 6days n sometimes even 7days a week. So on working days cooking special items is strictly no-no.
If I free on sunday, my husband would rather tell me to rest n order in food or else we would go out for dinner or lunch depending on mood, health, and preferences.
The one day I get off I want to rest than spend all day in kitchen making fancy dishes for family. If they can demand, they can as well come forward and cook it too.

Same here we both work on weekdays and that too from home. So lunch is always at home all days so why special on Sunday is my question

Does he do anything special for you on weekends?

Do something you enjoy on Sundays. Start baking! It will also be something special for him. Win-win.
