    this is a first trial on canvas using acrylics.. i have tried to guide her, but this is something new to me too.. C& C's are welcome....

    Wow 1st Painting is fantastic Shanthi.....

    The shading part where she still needs some improvement. The 2 leaves 1st the left hand side 1st leaf she should have slightly merged the 2 colours.
    2ndly the one on the right hand side 2nd leaf I know she wanted to show the turn of the leaf but instead of drawing an outline to it, she should have shaded that outline. It looks like a separate leaf.

    2 flowers right hand side flower she has merged the colours really good but the other flower needs some shading, I know she wants to show the turn or bend of the petal but she needs to show it with merging the colours.
    I am sure Charu will take this comment lightly and she will improve and give importance to shading next time.
    Will wait for her next painting.

    EQ, thanks for those pointers.. and she agrees it makes sense...but does not want to make any changes in this one, to leave it as it is as her first one...

    she will incorporate these tips in her next one...

    Nice painting Shanthi. For 1st painting, it is excellent.

    As Aruna said, gradual merging of colors will improve the painting. But as she practises, she will perfect this too.

    Shanthi, amazing job! I love the details in the leaves! your DD is so talented!

    Now before I go on and say what I want to, I do want to put it out there that I am not sure what her sources of inspiration are for this painting - meaning a picture, memory or actually sitting in front of these two lovely flowers So the first thought that came to my mind is the background color - as lovely as the blend of colors look, to make the flowers come alive, playing with that background will make a huge difference I think.

    You daughter has so many talents Shanthiji.I don't know much about paintings, but all I can say is the two flowers has been done so very well.I couldn't find any single fault in it.

    Great work, by practice she will do it excellent I believe.
