Hello every buddy, Having reloacted to Muscat, after a desperate search for new friends and interesting avenues to be involved in, I was thrilled to see this forum and logged in right away - despite the difficulty in registering a username ( u can imagine with a name so common as mine). If you din't know, every seventh girl in the world is a vidhya...Thanks to Ganesh, my husband, atleast there werent too many "Vidhya Ganesh's" around in the forum!! :-D Me - born and raised in chennai, though a native of Kerala, moved to Muscat just 6 mths back. We stay near Darsait...or shud I say Ruwi, still not sure! As of now, enjoying my stint as a home-maker, trying new dishes and experimenting on.... u know who?? :2thumbsup: That's about me for now, very briefly... Let's keep the threads goin' Cheers, Vidhya :-D

Dear friends in Muscat, I lived in Muscat for about five years with my husband from 1985 to 1990. During my stay we lived in Al Khwair in two places and then shifted to Rex Road area.In those days, I had quite a number of good friends in Muscat. At that time Muscat was just buildingup its booming economy. I liked visiting Ruwi for window shopping. We can take a walk down to Ruwi from our residence. Even though I returned to India in 1990, my meories of Muscat life is fresh and green. I wish the present generation of ladies from India write more about Muscat, to keep us happy. Best wishes, Chitra B.
Hi chitra, Nice to know you have relocated back from muscat. I have come back with my kids to chennai..husband is still in muscat. Stayed in Al-khuwair. there are lot of Tamilians in al-khuwair. Cost of the apartments have raised to unbelievable extent in the last 1 year. Traffic is heavy. there is a flyover near hotel raddisson coming up which links qurum upto rusayl....there are lot of new buildings in al-khuwair. there are more malls in muscat...the economy is booming (but the rate is sliding....) lulu hypermarket is spread over...muscat, sohar, salalah, sur. sohar port is buzzing..lot of new industries up in and around sohar port. But still oman is neat...green with the seasonal flowers...and the beaches are still clean and inviting...... Last but not least there is a saravana bhawan now...along with the two soha restaurants....mysore cafe is no more....
Hi All Nice to see the replies of ex and present Muscat-ians. We are moving to Sohar soon and will Muscat much. Now from Sohar - Al Ain/Dubai becomes the closest city to visit. Muscat and Sohar will soon be international cities with the best infrasturcture beating all the other contenders from the region silently. I am involved in some of the projects. What else is special? be in touch Surya

I was in Muscat from 1985 to 1990. During my stay in Muscat I had a number of good friends. I am happy to see many ladies are active in this forum. Muscat must have changed a lot. But my memories of life in those days are fresh in my mind. I will be happy to share the same with you all.
