Hello, After months of research I am back to square one. I am contemplating on taking my kids back to India to study for a few years.Please don’t ask the reasons as it will side track the posts again. Please give your experiences of which schools you have joined your kids in , what syllabus and your experiences. Thank you!!
IB/IGCSE for smooth transition.More than the syllabus start preparing your child for the transition.How the school.system in India differs,strict teachers ,students with competitive nature,cultural difference,Hw,exams and other overwhelming activities,Less time for other extra curricular activities due to subject tuitions and so on.Prepare the child mentally so that she or he can accept the changes and adjust with the crazy surroundings.We started preparation with our child almost one year before the move and also gave him writing practice.He joined 7th grade in India.
Awesome thank you for the input !!! What do you mean by writing practice ?? I do see my daughter’s writing skills are extremely poor that too in English. May I know which school and which place your son joined ?? How has he adjusted and how long has it been since you moved ?
There is a lots.of writing ,copying from the board eventhough my son is doing IGCSE.Listening to Teachers and writing notes while they teach was also a challenge.Their accent and the speed was bit tough for my son to follow initially.Computer usage is still minimal when it comes to class notes.This is 3rd year in India and we moved to a southern state.
Did you try living there during kids summer vacation? Anyway one of my friend moved from usa to india and repeated her older daughter's 8th grade in india. So it was bit easier for kid. She found outdoor school in Pune just like Shanti Niketan. School name is DLRC Drive Change Learning and Resource Center. www.dlrc.in Your kids will adjust eventually. I saw many parents only don't adjust to environment and come back in one year. You have to be really patient and mentally strong to adjust. Good luck to you.
