    Hello Dear Mother's

Please help me out of this situation.

My son is 1 yr 10months old and I have put him to the Play School Euro kids.

Like any other kid, he was crying to goto school in the first week and then he was alright once he was in the school. This went on for 2 weeks and he was fine with it......

Suddenly last week, monday he developed cough and then Tuesday night he had fever and more sever coughing.

We Took him to the doctor and he was on medicines and did not goto school last week.

Again we started the school schedule this tuesday and he is crying very badly to goto school. Even in the night he wakes up and tells that he doesnt want to goto school. Right from the time he gets up from the bed he keeps saying not to send him to school and cries (gets cranky).

Today again he got cold and we didnot send him to school. Looks like he is scared of something or some instance has taken place at school.

Today from morning he is repeating the same thing even though we are telling him that he will not goto school today and also he wants some one to always hold him and be near him.

Iam really worried. What should I do ?
Have you experienced such things from your side ?

    please share your thoughts.

Hi , I suppose you have sent him to school because either you have gone back to work or the usual care taker is not doing that anymore.
Here is my suggestion, kids this age need advance notice otherwise they react badly. So, you should have started telling him things like school would be fun, he would meet new friends and get new toys to play with. At this stage, kids are mobile as well so they are pushing and sometimes biting each other. You need to check for that and talk to his teacher if that's happening.
Since he already has started dislike, I would say start slowly if you want to send him again. Maybe 2 days in beginning and then increase after couple of weeks to 3 days.. Like that..
And he is bound to fall sick. Since he is getting out of house for the first time and exposed to germs different than what he has faced at home.
You are lucky. DS went to daycare at 3 months.. Though he adjusted very well then because he had no separation anxiety then.

    Hello Gayatri

yes its early, but i have put him to play group .
My idea was that he will get to play with kids of his age .

But seems like it will take sometime to adjust. Now he is a bit better, but still crying in the morning.
Keep my fingers crossed that he will adjust soon.

    thanks for your reply.

    luv

    Hello

    Thanks for your reply.
I came back to work when he was 4months old. I have my mon and a lady to take care of him.

As i replied to gayatri, my idea was to get him to play with kids of his age and to mingle with kids. I had told him in advance and till 2 weeks it was fine and then he fell sick and now he is again back to square one.

Will wait and see for a month how he goes before I decide on anything.

    luv

Shobha, I would talk to his caretaker at school, find out if anything particularly happened in the past 2-3weeks, some kid falling sick at school, some child bossing over others, not getting turns in the slider, getting pushed in the free-play time, something that could be disturbing him? Home is all their territory and they have been kings and queens. But school isnt so, they got to learn lot of coping skills, which would take time. I would talk to the child too, on whats bothering him, why he doesnt want to go, etc. But i would never force, bribe, do tricks, just to send him to school, instead respect the child's view, I would tell him, 'its fine that you dont want to go to school' And keep quiet. After a day or two of being at home, slowly you can tell him how you grew up, going to school, learning new things, making friends, having fun, and now that has helped you grow into a big woman, working, et all. Same way your DH's too. This can be a straight talk, or a story, or a story to one of his fav dolls, trucks too, but make sure he is listening. This is enough for kids :):thumbsup

    Hi Shobi,

I started full time work when my son was 18 months old. However from 13 months, I started sending him for 5 hours a day for 3 days, that way he got the practice of staying away from me.

When he started going full day care, I also faced such situations.
    I joined work new.
We had to move house because of my office location
So we put him in a new day care, it was a new house.

All made him quite cranky and he got sick with Strep throat. So we took turns keeping him home, my DH stayed at home for a week and took care of him as I had joined work recently.

It was a tough time, but he got through it now he goes happily to full day care.

May be you can try sending him for shorter timings, and gradually increase the time
