Land Grabbing Methods

(based on a story or legend)

The campaign to grab land and natural resources has been going on for centuries under many names. People from Britain and Europe reached America and grabbed the land of the native people there, sometimes by coaxing and sometimes by beating them with swords and guns. The same thing has been happening in India too, be it the hilly areas of Uttarakhand or the dense forests of Bastar.

Now it is the turn of the Moon and other planets.

On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon. Before that, during the training of the Apollo 11 team, a tribal elder in western America asked Armstrong who they were and what were they doing in that desolate desert area. He was told - we are training to go to the moon.

The old man said, "Will you do me a favour? We believe that holy spirits live on the moon. Please tell them.

The old man said in his dialect and asked them to memorize it. Armstrong asked what it meant. The elder said -I cannot tell because the message is only for the holy spirits and they would understand.

Well, somehow each one of the team members memorized it. To understand the meaning, somehow they found a tribal knowing the dialect.

At first, the tribal laughed a lot and then said that it meant-

“Don't believe anything they say, they have come to grab your

land!”
