The way politicians monkey around with education in this country is really annoying. TN politicians cutting across party lines stand in the forefront of playing games with the future of kids.

Their latest is opposition to opening of Navodaya schools in TN. The reason? Navodaya schools would mean backdoor entry of Hindi into the state.

Navodaya is an excellent concept chalked out by late premier Rajiv Gandhi to give quality education matching that of elite private schools for the poor and middle class people who cannot afford the exorbitant fees of the high end teaching shops. I don't know how well these Navodaya schools have realized this idea but the concept is good and with some sincerity the goals can be realized.. For governments like AAP's in Delhi Navodaya scheme is tailor-made for its educational revolution that has improved by leaps and bounds the conditions. in city schools

If the netas of TN are sincere about improving the educational standards, they would see Navodaya concept as a boon. Seeing a conspiracy to impose Hindi through backdoor is absurd. There is no compulsion in Navodaya No one is putting guns on the heads of parents and fircing them to admit their kids in Navodaya schools. If parents and kids want to join the scheme, who the hell are you to stop them? Why the hell can't kids have a choice? Netas admit their kids in elite English medium schools and play politics with the future of poor and middle class kids.

Another pet refrain of Netas is they want education to be shifted from concurrent list of the constitution to state list. How do you expect uniform educational standards if this is done? Without such standards how do you expect kids to clear national medical entrance exams like NEET.? Statistics showed that in TN the number of kids from state board schools who joined medical colleges run by the government stood at single digits this year!

O\f course this is beneficial. for netas, There will be more suicides like that of Anita the figurehead of anti-NEET protests in TN who killed herself when she failed to crack NEET. They can merrily pursue their politics of vultures brestbeating over corpses to milk votes.

    Dear Balaji,
The Dravidian political parties completely spoiled the education system in Tamilnadu. Even after 70 years after Independence the reservation is still continuing in education and job.
Navodaya schools will be a boon to poor people who can't spend lot of money to educate their children in a high standard school.

    @Balajee
Very sad to read about this.
What could I say, except feel sad and pray for the many young lives, their dreams, their aspirations.

Oi Balajee, stop trying to impose Hindi! :smash2:
Netas of TN? N-E-T-As? I suspect you are part of the conspiracy!!!

For Non Tamil readers, I just sarcastically twisted some Thamizh words related to what sokanasanah posted above ,not ridiculing what he said but in a way condemning the 'state of affairs' prevailing in Tamilnadu Politics and Government.

@Balajee - Sir, sorry for digression. Nice write up on Navodaya Schools.

    'குடி'மக்கள் பொதுநலம் காக்கும் பொறுப்பு ஓர் Barஆளுமன்றத்திற்குதானே சேரும்?!

Note: this is a language pun. Almost untranslatable.

BUT RESERVATION MORE OR LESS IS CONTINUING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, THE ISSUE IS DRAVIDIAN PARTIES PRESS PANIC BUTTONS WHEN EVEN A SLIGHT MOVE IS MDE TOWARDS UNIFORM STANDARD OF EDUCATION THROUGHOUT THE NATION. WHAT THEY WANT IS AN IGNORANT VOTE BANK POISONED BY THEIR PREJUDICES.

And pray, what would that mass movement be? Who would participate? We are all raised and have it ingrained in us to mind our own business, go about our daily jobs, earn, live 'respectably'. How many people would have the courage to rock the boat? So long as there is food on our table!!!

Democracy has not helped in any way. We do our duty and go and vote. We throw out the BJP. Pappu back in power ..... with his co-conspirators. Throw Pappu out, we have Modi back in power. Vote for AAP, we see what happened. Extend this to regional parties and it is no different. We are stuck in a no-win situation. This, certainly is not what democracy is supposed to be?

Sad thing is there is a grievous shortage of national character in our country. No one fights for a cause. All they fight for is their right to live as they will.
