Dear IL'ites, We make ongoing minor changes to our site. Many of those changes are not big enough to warrant an annoucement by itself. However, to keep our members informed of those changes, we are starting this thread. 1. Thread and Post Subscriptions will not happen by default In the past when members start a thread or respond to a thread they will get automatically subscribed to those threads by default. Any new posts in those threads will then be sent to the member as an email notification. Even though members had the ability to unsubscribe at any time, some considered those emails as spam. Hence, we are disabling this default auto-subscription. If you start a thread or respond to a thread, you have to subscribe to that thread to get email notification. Please go to this FAQ to learn how to subscribe to a thread. (Thank you to Oviya for this suggestion. BTW, what a great name!) 2. Memberlist and Calendar are now under Quick Links Our Forum Navigation bar was getting a little cluttered and hence we moved "Memberlist" and "Calendar" under the "Quick Links" drop down menu. A few insightful members might rightly guess that we are creating space for some new things! 3. "Life after Separation" renamed "Life Without Spouse" The sub-forum name "Life after Separation" didn't indicate that it included even women who have lost their spouse. Hence we renamed it "Life Without Spouse" so that it is clear that the sub-forum is for both women who are separated from their spouse and also those who have lost their spouse. Next week, we will move this sub-forum from under "Marriage, Spouse and In-Laws" to under "Singles". Please subscribe to this thread to be updated on all the changes to the site. Please provide your comments and feedback in this Miscellaneous Announcements - Comments & Feedback Thread. Thank you.
4. Similar Threads At the bottom of every thread, you will now see a box called "Similar Threads" which will list 5 threads that are the similar topic area to the thread that you are reading. This is a great way for you to get quick visibility to related content. For example, below the thread "How to reduce Tummy Fat", it will list 5 threads that deal with the similar topic. 5. Quick Reply You can now reply to threads without leaving the thread screen. Earlier, you need to click on "Post Reply" to get to a new screen and then make your response. Now, you can just click on the "Quick Reply" icon on the bottom right of the post to activate quick reply. You can then go to the bottom of the same screen and type in your response. You don't have to go to a new screen to respond to threads. Please continue to provide your comments and feedback in this Miscellaneous Announcements - Comments & Feedback Thread. Thank you.
6. Sub-Forum for DC Area opened Based on our dynamic IL'ite ursnegithi's request, we have opened a separate sub-forum for the DC Area within the US North East region. A BIG Thank you to ursnegithi for taking the initiative to ask and lead that sub-forum. IL'ites from the DC Area, please participate and help make that forum live and active!
7. "News, Politics & Society" forum - revived! We do understand that some of you might be interested in discussing few top news and politics amongst the community. Hence, we combined 'News, Politics & Society' related discussions into a single forum here. Note: The 'society' sub-forum that existed under 'India' forum is merged into the above forum. 8. Weekly Quick Poll This sub-forum can now be located under 'Our Community' forum. 9. Games This sub-forum can now be located under 'Entertainment, Hobbies and Interests'. Please subscribe to this thread to be updated on all the changes to the site. Please provide your comments and feedback in this Miscellaneous Announcements - Comments & Feedback Thread. Thank you.
10. "Sports" Sub-Forum Launched! With IPL fever in full-swing and Olympic torch going around the world, what better time to unveil our sports forum. IL'ites have already started discussing sports here and there. This sub-forum will bring it all under one-roof! Shobanag will moderate this sub-forum (Thanks Shobana!) With the launch of this new sub-forum, we have renamed the "Games" sub-forum to "Online Games and Puzzles" to avoid confusion. 11. "Music & Dance" Sub-Forum Launched! Sometime ago, Shanvy (Thanks Shanvy!) requested a sub-forum for Music. Now we have it for both "Music & Dance". This new sub-forum is not just for cinema Music & Dance, but also for Carnatic & Western Music, Classical & Folk Dance and more!. With the above two changes, here is how the sub-forums are structured: Entertainment, Hobbies & Interests Hobbies, Arts & Crafts Pets and Animal Lovers Sports Travel (our Forum of the Month) Online Games & Puzzles Movies, Music, Dance & TV Movies Music & Dance TV Look forward to all your support in making these new sub-forums blossom! Please provide your comments and feedback in this Miscellaneous Announcements - Comments & Feedback Thread. Thank you.
12. Sticky Threads separated by a blue bar In thread listings, sticky threads are now separated by a blue bar. All threads above the blue bar are sticky threads and the ones below are regular threads. 13. Simile popup box expanded and smilies rearranged Monsi made a very practical suggestion to rearrange smilies. We have done that. While doing so, we also realized that the popup box for "more" smilies is very small. So, we opened that up so users can see several smilies at once and don't have to scroll horizontally. 14. Quick Reply now works in FireFox Earlier, Quick Reply didn't work in the FireFox web browser. It used to give a blank screen error message. That is now fixed! Vandhana would love it!
15. "New Thread" button within a Thread Several new members are searching for the New Thread button within a thread. In order to help those new comers, we now have a new thread button within a thread. Clicking on the New Thread button will start a New Thread in that forum.
16. "Home Page" Changes - "Member Here?" section introduced! Some of our ILites requested for "New Posts" and "New Threads" links to be provided in th Home Page. So with the forum upgrade these changes are also implemented. http://www.indusladies.com/ In the home page on the left hand side, there is a "Member Here" box which has links to "New Post" and "New Threads". Hope you find this change in the home page user friendly.
