MIL wants to accompany doc visit just for curiosity ,but I don't want to

    since i am pregnant ,MIL wants to accompany doctor visit to see how hospitals are here in US....
    But I am not comfortable...what should I tell ? How to avoid taking her?

    For her curiosity, take her once. But if you are not comfortable let her wait outside while you meet your gynecologist.

    Let her come for company and wait in the waiting room....Provide her with a good supply of books/magazines tht she can read while she waits for you to finish the visit...Do not bring her in for doctors consultations if your are uncomfortable with it..If she asks why, tell her you have some personal questions to ask and that you would prefer a on-to-one consultation.

    Invite her to the hospital... Let her wait outside. Meet the Dr alone. In the mean time, give her a chance to see the hospital and its functioning.

    Wow, were you not excited when you visited US for the first time ?? what is wrong if she wants to accompany you and want to see the hospital ?? while your scanning going on she can wait outside.

    If you are not comfortable, don't. Give some reason like it is the flu season, and better to avoid doctor's office kind of place as far as possible.

    There is no question of her going inside the actual room where the doctor meets you. So, just to sightsee the outside, she can be taken at another time; by your husband.

    If this is about a hospital, then they might even have tours available, like for people who are trying to decide on which hospital to have the baby in.

    While her curiosity is innocent and all that, your visits to the doctor are not the time to satiate it. Each visit to the doctor is special for the mom-to-be. If you are not comfortable, don't take her. You'll end up upset, and forget to ask questions etc.

    Annoys no end when folks want to combine a woman's pregnancy/delivery with such voyeuristic sightseeing of medical places and facilities.

    As long as she is not a troublesome MIL, you can take her. She maybe curious to know how it is done here.. After all she is here to take care of you. I don't see a reasons why you would not be comfortable.
