In Canadian smocking folds can be created in three ways
    1. By joining two points
    2. By joining three points and
    3. by joining 4 points.
Further variations can be made under each method by changing size of the square, by leaving gaps between rows or columns and by drawing rectangle grid instead of square grid. Using flower type stitch in-between.

    Hi Vani,

Thanks for your reply. Actually yesterday i checked all the posting. I think i had some internet problem. That is why i can't see all the postings
i belive. Anyhow today i go thro all.

Another doubt. Is one metre blouse bit is enough to make the cushion.
I tried one round cushion. 176cm X 70cm (u only gave cloth size)
    the size is ok.

But in one metre blouse length is 100 cm. breadth less than 85 cm.
is this size is ok to make flower design, arrow head design cushion.

I am sorry to troubling u

    Hi swaran,
Material needed varies from design to design, Which design do you want to ? what is the measurement of smocked material do you need?

Re: How to calculare material meeded for Canadian smoching?

I am planning to make the shell pattern for the bottom of gown(back and front) and for the top...can you please suggest me the pattern that would go well with this shell patternfor the top part of the gown(this i am planning to make in another colour of satin cloth)...i would measure the exact height of DD tomorrow and post the same...in such cases would it be possible for you to tell me the measurement i would need to make the same...

PS::i would be doing only the designing and stiching,i will give to the tailor
