    Hello,

I am posting all mathematical shortcuts, reasoning, general awareness for competitive exams. These mathematical shortcuts would be useful for everyone who are preparing for the exams.

If you have any doubts in mathematical problems or shortcuts, please feel free to ask me.

    Subjects covering are:

    1. Short tricks of multiplication
    2. Finding square roots within a minute
    3. Finding cube roots
    4. Average
    5. Age problems
    6. Time and work
    7. Train problems
    8. Simple Interest
    9. Compound Interest
    10. Discount problems
    11. Data interpretation ( includes bar chart, pie chart, and other chart problems)
    12. Reasoning

Everything @ free of cost via online. There is no need to spend your money to institutions. Self learning always helps in clearing exams. For General Awareness, you could buy GK csk book for competitive exams, its monthly Gk issue book and it costs just Rs 30. This book helps for people who are not interested in reading general affairs from newspapers or TV.

General Awareness is quite easy section. Most of them find it difficult and its quite easy scoring section. All you have to do is just give a glance.

For banking General awareness, you need to know repo, reverse rate, bank rate, CRR( cash reserve ratio), Important Dates, International/Indian appointments, SPorts related news, entertainment who has been awarded, what awards, and for which movie. Deaths of famous personalities that happened during the year, abbreviation or they would ask the expanision, etc.

For SSC (Staff Selection exams)- It would be from history, geography , science, biology, chemical combinations or what happens if they are being added, physcis, etc,,,

    1) short cut methods for multiplication

Multiplying by 11 with any digits

    124 * 11 = 1 3 6 4 ( the unit's digit 4 and the last digit 1 would be as it is, now you have to add 4+2 =6 , 2+1 =3, so the answer is 1 3 64.

    Now detailed steps

    355 * 11 = 3_ _5
    355 *11 = 3 _05(5+5 =10, so put O in ten's place and carry 1)
    355 *11 = 3905 (5+3 = 8, and we hav 1 carry one, so it would be 9)

    544 * 11 = 5984 ( 4+4 =8, 4+5 =9)

First and last digit would be same if you are multiplying by 11, just you need to add the given numbers

    6236 * 11 = 6______6 ( 6+3 = 9, 3+2 = 5, 2+6 = 8), so the answer is 68596

753 * 11 = 7__3 ( first and last digit as it is, suppose if they have any carry on while adding, you hav to add to the last digit.)

    753 * 11 = 8283 ( 5+3 = 8, 5+7 =12, so you have to add 1 as carry on to 7, so it would be 8283 as answer)

    Exercise :

    1456 *11 =

    58342 * 11 =

    32352352 * 11 =

    25 *11 =

    191*11 =

    8932 *11 =

Please feel free to ask if you have doubts....

    Hello,

Some of you have asked me Syllogism, and I m explaining it clearly here:

Syllogism is quite easy to solve, its just like a basic Venn diagram that we learnt in 7th grade.

Here, I m the attaching the basics of it, with this I would explain few problems

    View attachment 182123

Lets us solve a syllogism problem.

    Give Answer for the following:

    • (A) If only (1) conclusion follows
    • (B) If sonly (2) conclusion follows
    • (C) If either (1) or (2) follows
    • (D) If neither (1) nor (2) follows and
    • (E) If both (1) and (2) follow.

    1. Statements: Some actors are singers. All the singers are dancers.

    Conclusions:
    1. Some actors are dancers.
    2. No singer is actor.

    A. Only (1) conclusion follows

    B. Only (2) conclusion follows

    C. Either (1) or (2) follows

    D. Neither (1) nor (2) follows

    E. Both (1) and (2) follow

So you need to draw Venn diagrams for the statements not for conclusions.

    The answer is conclusion (1).

If you hav any doubts feel free to ask me...will be posting more tutorials.

    Exercise - 2 for syllogism

Statements Given are :Statements: All the Guitars are instruments. All the instruments are violins.
    Conclusions:
    1. All the violins are instruments.
    2. All the guitars are violins.

    A.Only (1) conclusion follows

    B.Only (2) conclusion follows

    C.Either (1) or (2) follows

    D.Neither (1) nor (2) follows

    E.Both (1) and (2) follow

    View attachment 182134

For the above statments, I have drawn venn diagrams

So the answer is Conclusion (2) only B follows.
