Disclaimer:This post is not against constructive development, doesnt aim at confusiong people towards old age ideologies and practices. All views expressed here are my personal opinion.

India few hundred years back had a simple lifestyle and simple lifecycle. The Social setup was in such a way that every group of people had their own set of skills, had their own part to play in the society, and all groups worked together in unision. The british came to India and started looking at the setup and begun the divide and rule policy. The adams apple sowed in Indian Subcontinent continues to haunt our nation. The theory of division is widespread across the world in the current scenario.

Independence has been misunderstood as non interdependence. Self sufficience has been mistaken for being within our own four walls and not being self sufficient as a nation.

Every country in the world has its uniqueness and now all of them are trying to march towards uniformity. Competing with each other on money, social setup, lifestyle, workstyle, technology, not for the better ment of mankind but only to prove one's supremacy in the world map. what if there were only apples all over the world and no other fruits?.. would that be relishing for us to taste?Simple people of olden days were wooed with technology, and technology meant development. In my opinion, development is a different platform and technology can be a part of it. There is no development if there is no mental maturity and we leave chaos behind all our actions.

Indians lived as families of 10-12 ( minimum). They belonged to a greater group called community that stood with the families in time of need. The communities were quiet working with each other hand in hand though there were differences. All communities stood up together for their town/ village.

People lived in bigger house, shared their work, learnt lifeskills on how to grow your daiy veggies, how to convert paddy to rice.. other grains to eatable format, how to store your pulses for the rest of the year... Later with advent of technology, all these lifeskills were lost, we do not know how pure is our food, oil, water.. adn started relying too much on technology to believe that washing our hands with chemicals would make our hands clean.. if biologgy is not clean, if our bodies are not clean and the chemicals that kill are clean.. we are certainly marching towards making the world a burial ground.

Personal development was never emphasized in olden days and the kids of the family took up the work that best suited them, later intelligence and hard work were weighed on same scale and intelligence weighed more whereas sincerity and hard work took a back seat leading to competition within the village, as which community churns out more money, which community is aggressive enough to control others, which family is having a higher hand on each community, which family member can become the right head of the family etc...

We lost our obedience to our elders and the natural head of family, community and living place. We started buiding personal wealth, started thinking towards material wealth rather than having a peaceful life. The government helped people to develop by entitling them towards loans to raise income, bank deposits with interests so that the peoples money was used to benefit the nation! The nation seems to be developed now with women at par with men running to their workplaces, hubbys running inside the house to help in daily chores, trying to accumulate wealth for their children, children being trained to be experts in many other areas.

our grandfathers knew how to swim, they dint attend swimming classes, did not hav cozy swimming pools, our ancestors ground their own flour, dint have their own mechanical mills, our ancestors took pride in having personal cobbler, blacksmith goldsmithetc.. in todays world if we have to do all this it meant that we're ambanis or mallyas!:)

With the development tag, we are atlast running to catch a crazy emptiness.

hahaha..:). It just goes to show that when you set your mind to it, you can bend it any which way. Some might say that thoughts of the "good old days" creep in only when one is forty-something. An intermediate age, when one had tossed in the towel in the game of life, and resigned to the whatever.
Cheer up. Recite the deteriorata.... or, well, settle for desiderata.
