Birth Story

Emily -rose , 7.30lbs 20'in (VBAC)

I went for regular visit to my doc office 37+4 weeks , doc checked and sd 6cm and we should be having the baby today , checked into L&D , doc asked me if I want to try VBAC and read all dangers and signed consent.

Doc broke my water and sd we will try to get contractions started if not we will start pit... I sd ok it was 5.45pm, and he sd if I want epi it would take 45min so they started ivs , I declined epi. In the mean while I was waiting for my DH to get the DS to sitter and things did not turn out the way we wanted and my 3yr old ended up being in my L&D room, DH walked in and I was screaming with pain and contractions , I sd nurse I will take epi...so they checked again she sd no time for epi baby is coming out let's push.

This is when the panic set in , I was in so much pain but the doctor and nurses were so encouraging , I would feel the ring of fire it was fire omg , just 3 pushes and she was out , I really could not believe I did it , got second degree tear, 45min start to finish .

TIP: I just surrendered my self to the pain moment I realized I'm not getting any pain meds, and let my body do the talking and it just took over.

Congrats GG! It's a quick labor and bravo attempt on VBAC. :thumbsup

That's a good tip. Much needed suggestion for us FTMs.

Our second bundle of joy arrived today, Feb 21st at 3:27 AM!!

So I was admitted at 4-5 cm but wasn't making much progress.. But since there was a storm in the way, doc asked to stay back n see.. At about 2 AM contractions were still irregular so they broke my water bag.. And the REAL contractions came through..

I was still 5 cm, was asked if I needed epidural.. I wanted to try hot water tub instead.. 15 mins in hot tub and my pain turns unbearable and got the urge to push.. 5 mins later I was completely dilated, started pushing, 7 pushes later I was holding my precious little one!!

So that's one another tried n tested method, if you can use hot tub, go for it!!

the little guy was shy of 3 days to 37 weeks.. But he weighs appropriate for his gestation.. Initial latching n learning going on..

You just have to listen closely to your body during pain. It will direct you, Never panic ..

Congrats rv8 and gossip girls. You guys started out as march moms but ended up as February moms. It was indeed brave of you both to not have taken any epidural.

Hello new moms and moms to be,

A quick advise.. Please get your newborns screened for thyroid. It is rare but if detected early it is better. No family history as such but we got it checked for my daughter by fluke and she has it. Had we lost two years, her brain development would have been hampered.

Last week my baby's stomach was bloated too much, so we took her to doctor and he doubted hershes, she as advised to be admitted to hospital. Poor baby had to be given IV and we did her blood tests and that is when we found abt this. She has had no symptoms of thyroid, but her luck that we got her screened and found it.

Hr u doing ,
I had growth scan ( 30 weeks ) on saturday . Baby's growth is fine. but my cervix length has shortened from 3.8 to 2.8 cm . So doc said that I might have preterm baby ( not pleasant to hear). He kept 2 injections for baby's lunch development and prescribed a tablet naturogest .
Doc told that I can travel to office. However we enquired with another doc who suggested bed rest . I dont want to take risk. So planning to stay at home
Anitha , Makena shots is given in india too? any idea.
Anyone came across this shortened cervix. any idea about it.
Have started my hospital bag shopping. Planning to order online as I cannot go anywhere except cloudnine. I am going to ve delivery in cloud nine as doc strictly told to avoid long dist travel .
If anyone has any idea about shortened cervix , plz let me know
