    HI Gals,
I wanted to know if anyone here knows some helpful sites or can give me some suggestions.
We would be managing my delivery, baby, and post delivery without my parents abroad.
I am 5 weeks, you might think I am asking help too early.
But just wanted to be prepared beforehand.
Has anyone been in the situation same as me ?

Gals, please do suggest some helpful sites or books or your experiences to manage independently.

    Hi Avanti

I am in same boat too.
We are planning to bring my in-laws month before my delivery.
But I don't want to bother them much asking for help.
If I can get any pointers here, I will try to manage (labor & post delivery) my self with help of my hubby and with little less help from mom-in-law. I am 10 weeks long and would love to be prepared before hand.

Happy & Healthy Pregnancy to you.

    Luv
    Shree

Congratulations ladies!! Have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

One way to start towards labor, delivery and postpartum is starting to train your husbands in basic day-to-day chores which include a little bit of cooking. Also, once you reach 30-35 week mark, start cooking and freezing foods. Do some baby shopping in advance once you hit your third trimester. Make sure you have enough raw material for cooking at home or sign up for home delivery from grocery stores. Ask friends and neighbors to pitch in. Don't hesitate to ask for help.

Local churches sometime offer baby-sitting services/Mommy helper services so that mommy can complete chores around the house. Look for ladies who do home cooking around your neighborhood.

    Congratulations to both,
    Some pointers,
    Buy baby clothes, towards end.
Try research everything online, or buy online and pick up in store.
Try onesies with buttons on side with a flap on hand to hide nails
    2-3 cotton hat
diapers and wipes, new baby towel, diaper disposal thingie- it has its own trash liners
There's a way to get diapers delivered to house by diapers.com, check that out
Will you BF or bottle feel, arrangement for that- a husband pillow and half doughnut kind pillow- research if you need it
    Safety brand kit with clippers..
Will you keep the baby on bed? there's a small bed for babies to put on bed
a display to tell temperature and humidty in room
if the baby is coming in cold winter than ultrasonic humidifier
for first few months, the baby won't need much space, and will eat and sleep only
Keep those big laundry detergents on hand, the free from dye ones
keep everything in the house stocked- like tooth paste, shampoo etc
Keep kitchen stocked- with grains- rice, dal, rajma, masala powders, oil, trash bags, dish soap
whatever is your shortcuts in kitchen- keep that handy
for me it is- garlic powder and onion powder, frozen peas
all medicines that you take- have them- Tylenol, prescription is any

    @hermitcrab,
Very helpful suggestions. Thank you so much!!!
I live in a region where winter is brutal and expecting baby in winter.
I loved the swaddle blankets, may be a woolen baby beanie would help baby keep warmer.
I am new to the baby world; exploring few baby things :)

U do not need to buy now but if u have time explore
    baby r us
    Ikea
    Target baby section
U have to get car seat
For stroller u can get a frame on which to fit car seat that it wont be heavy
    Diaper bag
    A cross body purse
Learn to swaddle babies, they feel better
After swaddle put one baby blanket

    1. My son is a winter baby too. I would say if you have old cotton duppattas, sarees, preserve them and stitch baby blankets out of it. they come super-handy. Layering helps so onsies and sleep and play comes handy. According to my experience "indian" babies are smaller in size so have few preemie cloths than new born ones. I eneded up using NB size at 3 months!!!
    2. Invest in good place heater, Normally it is recommended to keep room around 69-70F.
    3. Sign up for Similac or Enfamil formulas they send you sample formulas and coupons from time to time as you approach ur due date.
    4. If you have any friends coming around your delivery time ask them to bring any special items you need from India.
    5. Invest in good feeding pillow, feeding bottles, nursing bras, nursing tops/gowns
    6. First 1 month is pretty tiring and everything is new. Babies have wired sleep-wake up pattern.
    7. Depending how you deliver: If you deliver naturally you will be able to do small chores around the house after 2 or 3 weeks post delivery. C-section needs more time to heal. But in all rest is the most important factor.
    8. Car seat is important and must be installed once you reach 32 weeks mark and get it checked at local fire station. Hospital will not discharge you if you do not have car seat installed.
