    The best outcome of all this is now you have the strongest support for life- your to be DH. He's taken a stand and stood firm for you setting aside his own beliefs and apprehensions. Just shows how much he loves and cares for you . I guess no gifts can match this.

    Also learn from this issue that you shouldn't be judging your soon to be family without trying to fully understand what they are trying to mean. In future too, choose your battles wisely so your husband also feels your love and support :)

    For all you know, maybe your mil wants to show off to her brother that she's got a better catch for her son ;) ( to be strictly read in gossip tone only)

    op congrats.I would still advice you to maintain strong borders from intial phase.
    I see mil wanted some one else and its going to bother her for years.
    She is going to continuously compare you and her and tell her son see i told you to marry her.
    You need to be on toe.Just dont give them any chance to point out mistakes.
