Hi ilites...I have made an observation and wanted to share my thoughts with all of you. These days most people brag a lot. And here I am not talking about bragging on Facebook. One lady I know told me the money she spent on buying gifts for her family in India. Another told me the amount she is spending on the hotel for her vacation. Another told me to get rid of my flat TV and get a new LED smart TV. My nature on the other hand is to live a simple life even though me and husband are financially sound. But it seems that in today's age simplicity is a sin!
The point here is that if you do not show off and if you don't blow your Own trumpet even your friends will look down upon you. Has it always been like this or our generation is like this. In fact if you keep quiet these jokers will come and attack you. Such braggers are in fact popular and are liked by one and all. Is it only me who feels like this or any of you have also noticed this kind of behavior?

I feel anytime in life it is better to maintain a low profile. Please dont go by the words of these bragging people. They will brag in good times and will go without a trace during bad times. There is nothing so great in their behaviour.Do anything just to satisfy yourself and your family but not outsiders...JMO..

i have many people around me who buy expensive thngs just to compete with other people thing .....personally i do what i want to do and which gives me happiness ......people can never be satisfied by buying as new one come daily in market ... what important is what you like and what you want to buy ...

Next time when anyone says to replace any thing try to tell them that it was a gift by your husband and that it cannot be replaced by any new technology .....etc etc

    hi
yes, i too have across such braggarts. The ones whom I've known personally are kind of insecure about their inherent merits or rather the lack of it-their identity seems to stem not from who they are but 'what' material possessions they own or whom they know or where and all they've been. I feel it's a desperate call of attention seekers that they flash their lifestyle in your face whether it matters to you or not. There is this acquaintance who loves to flaunt her 'connections'-she happened to be in the sundry mailing list of this politician-when the infamous politician's contacts' homes were raided during a scam, she sighed with an air of practised resignation "now don't be surprised if the CBI comes visiting me too!" It was my turn to sigh...

Yes the gift idea is a good one:) I also hate buying stuff just to impress people around me. But it is like a rat race...each one trying to prove they are better than the others.

Yup true. The incident with your acquaintance is really funny:D...I know this couple who booked a house in the US recently. They posted a pic on Facebook along with details of the project...the design and price included. I found the whole thing quite ridiculous!

Parvathi,FB has become a kind of show off tool for a lot of people.I have seen people updating everyday happening in their life too_OMG,how could they be such loners.Instead if they had invested some time in socialising it would jave been better.

Yes,I have seen such people around me to who flash their latest whatever. They believe in buying such products and flashing it in public.Let them be.For me I would buy things whichever is useful and does not pose any health hazard.I don't care if people around me are not impressed. My hubby has got a quiet a few latest tech items and they are just lying there since he read in some article that these produce excessive radiation.

The ones who look down upon you are ignorant.Just ignore them. They do not even realise that they are loosing their touch with natural things and nature.

For most people around us, life is more like a competition. Always trying to get something better than the other.

I too do not understand what cheap thrill some people get by bragging on and on about their possessions.

It is always better to maintain a low profile. In this evil world of today, one never can predict what can happen. Whatever we buy is for our own comfort, so what is the use of telling everyone else about it?

    Dear Parvathi,

A very relevant topic to be talked about....every where .....people are trying to brag either on their gadgets...or their plan for vacation .....and even on choice of schools for their kids.....actually speaking they are losing on their respect by bragging.....i see so many friends of mine....bragging to the heights....i maintain silent...becoz i know the truth....although i know.....that they want to grab some attention / center of attraction.....recently i went to a party.....where a lady....using all crap to show that she can talk in English.....and later when we played a simple ABCD game .....she was caught in her own trap.....most of the times....she could not complete simple ABCD....game.....!

Be real......be what you are.....dont brag and bluff....and create a wrong image.

    Cheers,

    Smartgirl....!
