    Dear Shree
Mahashivratri will be celebrated on Monday the 23rd Feb 2009. There are 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The list above is complete.

It is believed that a spiritually blessed person can see the jyotirlingas as columns of fire piercing through the earth.

    Dear Shree and Bujji
Thanks for your comments. I really meant that a spiritually blessed person will see the columns of fire piercing the earth when they look at a jotirlingam.
Here are some more facts:The word Jyotirlingam literally means Lingam of Light.Lord Shiva is believed to have manifested himself as a Jyotirlinga on the night of Aridra Nakshatra.Interestingly, of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is believed to be swayambhu or self manifested.
I recently visited the Har-ki-Pauri temple complex in Jammu. The temple complex is beside a river bed. There are replica- idols of all the four Char-Dhams and other famed idols. It includes one of Lord Tirupati! All in one place!
