thanks for pointing to a nice blog of yours....my first thought was "shanvy's writing does not fail to amaze me" ....it stayed in my mind for one sec.....because it was immediately replaced with the following ....with all the different posts of yours I have read in different forums, what else to expect from an expert? this morning it was beetroot+carrot +ginger+apple juice for the whole family. once a week we have this juice. i don't mind drinking with the fibre, while ds and dd don't like it. so i compromise..but wait, i make them eat that residue that i drain from their glass..i add it to chappati flour and make rotis for breakfast. stuff a spoon of sugar for fil..satisfies his sweet tooth. the kids enjoy it as it is..

today's lunch - i clicked the picture. but while uploading i did a mistake and deleted it. could not undo it..maybe tomorrow.
barley, plantain pith and moong dal salad with a dash of salt+pepper+lemon juice+cabbage sabji and turkeyberry+ladysfinger vathal kuzhambu.. (this is more tangy)+curds.

now turkeyberry or sundakkai has lot of health benefits. digestion, nerve strengthening, and many more...

    Shanvy Help ............

I am making dosa for first time

Moogh Dal dosa from ( SBD thread by Manju )

    Yellow moong dhal---1/2 cup
    green chilli---1
    jeera---1/2 spoon
    salt

Soak Moong dhal for 2 hrs and later grind it like dosa batter with green chilli , jeera and salt. Make thick dosa. It's too filling and yummy.

    My question :::
    1) if i take 1 katori moogh dal , how much water i need to add while soaking ????

    2) while grinding , do i have to throw soaked water out or grind it

    does my question sound funny

since it is being soaked only for two hours..i will wash it well..initially . then add drinking water just to immerse it. and while griding, i add in spoons. because if the kids are in the mood i make it like patties, for them.

you can keep the soaked water and add it according to the dosa batter consistency,if you find it like idli consistency add a litte of the set aside water adn make it thinner for crispy and thin crepes..i also add grated carrots, onions, spring onions and carrots and reduce the amount of batter i intake..

no doubt is funny at all,we learn..

nothing. moong dal is delicate. so 2 hours is enough. just drain off water just keep the moisture and shove it into the freezer. or grind the dough with very less water, without the chillies and shove it into the freezer. you can remove thaw and add salt, curry leaves, coriander chopped, ginger juilienes and make it tomorrow. nothing will happen.

moong dal fermented is not so great unless you like very sour things..
