Current cycle developments.....

Day 3 scan: Fertility specialist states that there are 4 Antral Folicles in left ovary and 2-3 AFCs in Right Ovary.
I was called for a 3D scan on day 8. Day 8 scan showed a dominant folicle of 12mm*10mm with Endo thickness of 5.7mm. Again the fertility specialist claimed that this is not a good performance for a natural cycle. She also mentioned that the ovary volume is less.

Day 12: I went to an independent sonography clinic for folicular scan. She gave me a detailed report stating that the dominant folicle is 16mm*13mm in the left ovary. One more folicle in right ovary is 6mm. Endo Thickness is 7.1mm and its a nice 3 layer lining. Uterus cavity looks nice n healthy. Before 2 cycles, there was a synice seen in the cavity which is not visible now. Volume of left ovary is 5.4cc and that of right ovary is 3.7 cc.

Can you guys help me in knowing whether the latest report is good for a natural cycle or not? I dont know if i should be posting this as a new thread. But as the friends out here know the whole history about my treatment, I thought i should be posting it here.

My update....

AF arrived after the longest cycle i ever had naturally. 28days. Target by the ayurvedic doctor was the same. Earlier I used to have severe cramps in abdomen and back pain before AF pays its visit. This time it has come silently. Will be going for antral folicle scan tomorrow.

Actually I was happy that my cycle was getting longer. I was getting positive vibes and had started visualising myself writing my success story. But the good part is, I am nither disappointed not disturbed by the AF this time. I just had a thought "better luck next time". I feel that success is very near to me now. Despite of low AMH, I still get 3-4 Antral Folicles, one of them grow to the size of 16mm, I ovulate on my own and cycles are getting longer. I want to consider this as a good improvement in health. I had done castor oil pack last cycle once. Planning to do it atleast twice this cycle. DH planning for an outing on my birthday this month. I hope the beginning of new year gives me good luck.

I had gone thru this thread a couple of times but didn't know much about Amh....
Last cycle my doc asked me to get the Amh tested ...I don't know if he prescribed it because of the age(33yrs) or short cycle(avg 23 days but AF sometimes comes in 21 days)...

I did the test and the value was 2.8 , doc said it was good but the reference range was upto 9...I didn't ask any question to the doctor...but am curious to know what range is considered as good....does it have a relationship with age??

I noticed that u have mentioned about a short cycle too ...and u said u produce good follicles too...the current parameters(follicle size and ET) look perfect...so if things are working normally, why is Amh tested??...

AMH actually depicts the ovarian reserve of a woman. Women are born with a fixed no. of eggs/ folicles in the ovaries which gets used. In each cycle, an average of 50-60 folicles are used out of which 12-15 actually show up on the ovaries. Out of the folicles which actually show up, only 2-3 folicles grow upto the size of 18mm or more. Some people have less number of folicles in their reserve, so they show up low range of AMH. This depicts that there are more chances of getting early menapause in the women who have low AMH.

In my case, though I am having low AMH, i still get a couple of folicles every month and i do ovulate on my own. But I don't know, for some reason, I am not able to conceive.

Stress is one of the reasons where the folicles getting processed in the ovaries gets decayed faster and formation of healthy folicles becomes difficult. Ayurvedic medicines and theories show that we can take care of the folicles getting developed and utilise them in a better way.

With the ayurvedic medicines I am taking, there have been a change in this regard. Earlier I used to have shorter cycles like yours. I used to get my periods in around 21 to 23 days. So more of folicles are used from my body as compared to other females of my age. With the help of the ayurvedic medicines, last time my cycle was 28 days. This helped my ovaries to better process the next batch of folicles and get them matured and processed. So, this cycle, my folicles have grown in a healthy manner.

This is what the doctors have explained me. AMH value is considered to be good if it ranges between 4-6. But with age, AMH is bound to come down. Frankly speaking, AMH is a recently developed study (i dont claim that the readings are fake) and natural remidies can help things improve.

One ques..if we are ovulating with say avg 2 eggs over 20-22 mm each time...then does having low Amh value mean that egg quality won't be as good ??....

I have shorter luteal phase as well n he gave my progynova this time(along with progestrone)..I did manage to cross 14 days after ovulation without AF showing up but unfortunately no success....and my period came 2 days after stopping the medicine....but 26 days cycle is better that 21 days....

Are you also taking any allopathic medicines or any treatments?

Sorry for responding so late. I got stuck with some work. Answer to your questions are below...

AMH actually shows how many Antral Folicles are present in the ovaries in that particular cycle. Antral Folicles are the folicles that can and may get matured in a particular cycle. Different doctors have different opinions about this. An optimistic doctor would say that one mature egg is enough for conceiving. And.... naturally, a woman TTC naturally will have one mature folicle in her ovaries in a particular cycle.

The quality of egg is not determined by AMH. It is purely based on the genetical characteristics which is difficult to analyse.

It is best to have a 28-30 day cycle, so that there will be enough of time for the Antral Folicles to show up into the ovaries. As of now, I am just taking the ayurvedic medicines. My cycle was one of the weiredest this time. I had a 26mm folicle on day 16, it didnt get ruptured. So I too HCG shot from my sonologist. But i felt ovulution only on day 20. And since day 22, I am having very slight bleeding for 3 days. So not able to understand what it is all about. First day, i thought it can be an implantation bleed. But the same amount of bleeding is there for 3 days. I cant actually call it a bleeding also... its just spotting, that too only in the morning. Planning to talk to the ayurvedic doctor tomorrow and also planning to go for a scan if the doc suggests.
