Love! Love! Love! – A New Serial From Varalotti Rengasamy

    A Curtain Raiser

Two characters from the earlier serial, I LOVE YOU, Ramya and Ritu are in conversation.

    Ritu
: Hi Ramya do you know what Varalotti is up to these days?

    Ramya
: I heard that he is planning another serial story

Ritu: Like our story, I LOVE YOU..

    Ramya
: Yes. But I hear that this going to be in a totally different setting. Our story was set in the background of the Indian IT industry. The new story is going to be based on the silk-saree trade.

    Ritu
: Oh, that’s great. IL women are going to love it. But how did he get information about the silk-saree trade?

Ramya: His brother-in-law is in that trade. Rumour has it that Varalotti spent hours with him discussing the nuances of the trade.

    Ritu
: Any idea about the story-line?
Ramya: I met Varalotti’s wife yesterday at the Super Market. She says that it is going to be story of a man.

Ritu: The story of a man! In an all-women website? Has Varalotti gone nuts?

Ramya: Who knows?. But his wife told me that though the story is about a man it is more about the women who pour their love on him.

Ritu: Oh, many women falling in love with the same man. At least two movies have come with that story line. I am sure somebody is going to tear Varalotti to pieces.

Ramya: No, no, no. She says that the hero of the story, Shiva, is very badly let down in life. Four women, his mother, his sister and his aunt that is his mother’s sister, and his boss who is also a woman pour their love on him and that love resurrects him.

Ritu: Sounds interesting. Has he decided on the title?

Ramya: Yes. I had to beg his wife to reveal the title. It’s Love! Love! Love!

Ritu: Sounds pretty strange to me. Any explanation?

Ramya: You see the hero is surrounded by love on all sides. So the title he first chose was SURROUNDED BY LOVE. But that sounded a little prosaic. So he has chosen Love! Love! Love!

You see when we repeat anything three times we want that to surround us. Haven’t you heard people saying Om Shanthi Shanthi Shanthi. They want to be surrounded by peace.

Ritu: I am sure there will be a Sharada or a Kamla or a Malathi. I have seen it in almost all his stories.

Ramya: N,o this time he is very careful. All names are new. The heroine is called Sanjana.

    Ritu: Oh

Ramya: But there is one similarity between the earlier serial and this one. The heroine is older than the hero

Ritu: Why? Has Varalotti run out of ideas?
Ramya: His wife says that the storyline demands it.

Ritu: Does the story have a happy ending?

Ramya: I asked his wife. She says though Varalotti is as usual pompously non-commital about the ending she is damn sure that Varalotti will not write sad-ending stories.

Ritu: That’s good to hear. But what happened to his Love Scenes From Ramayana series?

Ramya: Varalotti feels that he needs to do a lot more homework on that. So he is suspending the series for a while. He might resume it a little later.

Ritu: That’s okay, Ramya. Why should Varalotti at his age be so much obsessed with love? Do you know once he was branded as a ‘fake love prophet’ by his critic in IL?

Ramya: Oh was he? That’s bad. But I think at the end of the day he is a plain story teller who has a special bias for love stories. Once I had a private chat with him. He told me the story of the hundredth monkey and the need to spread love.

Ritu: What on earth is that?

Ramya: In one of the Indonesian islands infested with monkeys one scientist taught a monkey to wash the banana in water before eating it.

The monkey found that the washed banana tasted better. Soon it became a habit for that monkey. Soon all the monkeys in the island started washing their bananas. Now that was not a surprise because monkeys are known for their copy-cat abilities.

But what puzzled the scientists was that in another island hundreds of miles away the monkeys were washing their bananas. There was absolutely no connection between the monkeys in these two islands.

I am sure monkeys are incapable of using the satellite bandwidths designed by us human beings.

Then how did it happen? The explanation is that once a specified number of monkeys started doing that it became embedded in their genes and got transferred to the same species living hundreds of miles away. This is a proven fact.

According to Varalotti we should all spread the message of love through one way or other in such a way that it becomes embedded in the human genes.

Ritu: That’s some thing I haven’t heard of. And his idea of spreading love is to make us cry our heart out. Well, we’ll forgive Varalotti for that, provided the story is good. Tell me when is he going to start the serial?

Ramya: The first episode will be posted by next Wednesday that is 11th August.

Ritu: Varalotti should be a happy man.

Ramya: Not exactly so. He is very nervous. His wife wanted us to pray for him. Let’s do it, if not for Varalotti, at least for that good woman.

Ritu: And let's wish him best of luck. And let's also wish the ILites best of luck. They are the ones who are going to read the story every week and post their comments.

    hello Perfectionist,
The beginning of this serial itself is auspicious as the first comment for the story came from perfectionist. One of the Vedas starts with perfection, Poornam atha poornam itham... Whatever is there is perfect and whatever is here is perfect.
This serial is tailor made for ILites. Hope you would all enjoy it.
thanks for being the first to comment.
    love,

The title should have been Love!Love!Love! & Love! (Since 4ladies are pouring in their love for the hero) ha ha...on a serious note am already waiting for 11th. Let me guess from their conversation, that the lady love of the hero might be his boss.

You are right on both the counts. Yes, your title would have more apt. But I wanted to confine to the sacred trinity and hence 3 times. And yes the heroine is the hero's boss.
This story carries another first. My DW who read 8 chapters in Tamil cleared the story for publication very enthusiastically.

    Dear Uncle,

Wow! I have already started waiting for 11th august. One of my favourite names is 'Sanjana' Even Last week I was mentioning this name when we were discussing baby names for my 'expecting' friend. Its short form 'sanju' also sounds very sweet. doesn't it uncle?

Same pinch to Ami :) I too thought there should be 4 'loves' in the title.

    Dear Raba,
thanks a lot for coming in. Yes, this time I first did a mini-research in names of those who are between 20 and 30 years old. And came up with Sanjana. Yes, Sanju as a short form is even sweeter.
This serial will not be a straight love story like I Love You. There will be so many characters, some of them would be making their entry only in the last few chapters.
    thanks once again.

Love! Love! Love! sounds nice. I expected to have onther Love! to the title after reading your explanation as ami said :D. But may be its too obvious! And a different answer that you gave as a reason to keep it have only 3 times.

As usual, I liked your sense of humor in the conversation. Wonderful start and a very best of luck with the story, I cant wait to read them pouring in!

Thanks a lot, Gayathri. I was toying with some 12 different titles and only the day before yesterday I decided on this one. All our important mantras end with the words shanthi shanthi shanthihi. I want love to be a mantra. That's really a mantra that heals.
And before describing the healing power of love there would be events which lead to the wound. That would be a little shocking.
Thanks a lot for your kind wishes and prayers. please bless me too.
    love,
    sridhar
