Lose weight by counting calories .. easier than you think!!

    Hi Deepthi
    Good to know you are considering weight loss.. please read my first post in this thread. It explains how to count points and lose weight.

    please first calculate your maintance calories which depends on height, age and activity level. Once you have that then you need to reduce 5 points off that each day to lose 0.5 kg per week.

    However, for 5'1' height I think your maintancnce calories maybe less around 1500. So eating 1000 calories only is not good. You need to eat atleast 1200 (12 points).
    So I would suggest in addition to point counting to 12 points also do some exercise daily to get some more calorie deficit.

    Hi Anitha,

    Please read my first post in this thread where I explained in detail how to count points.
    Your method is fine, however we eat different stuff daily so its not really reliable that if I eat this much today , it will be the same tomrrow..

    Point counting is just a simplified method of calorie counting..
    do try it for 1-2 weeks and you yourself will see the results..

    Thanks Pickles......will definately go through your first post and make out my maintainence calorie count.
    So according to u if it is around 1200 Calories then 12 points a day with excercise should work for me...will try to start up ......
    But counting calories for every item is also bit difficult.Can we get calorie count for Indian foods on livestrong??or any other better site?

    Yes you can get on livestrong or caloriecount. Just google it.
    its not didficult because within a few days u will know the points for all main foods and then u can do it mentally..
