Hi I'm going to travel alone with my baby to Chicago from cochi via Delhi in air India. Any moms here travelled like this? What is the food provided by the airlines to the baby? Little bit worried because of long distance and travelling alone. Mommies here please share your experiences
hi OP There are already many threads to help you plan travel. http://www.indusladies.com/forums/infants/182779-tips-long-airline-travel-infants.html 8 Tips for Travelling with an Infant http://www.indusladies.com/forums/infants/17697-traveling-india-share-lists-tips.html http://www.indusladies.com/forums/infants/36891-travelling-us-7-months-kid.html BTW, I am also travelling first time with baby soon but from US to India and not alone. I changed my travel plans because I was nervous about alone travel. ;-) Anyways, Airlines do provide baby food. Call them ahead to check about food options they provide. You did not mention your baby's age. At worst, you can request for fruit salad for babies. But still be prepared with your food also. From security area, buy few bananas if possible and even bottled water. Take packaged foods - like gerber cereals etc and request hot water if needed. You can also carry package cookies/biscuits/dry cereals puffs if you baby eats.
I am travelling with my 1 year-old too, in the next week, from India to US via Doha and am flying Qatar Airways. I spoke to the airline staff while booking my tickets and they seem to be providing formula, baby food, a toy, diapers, bassinet etc. I also plan to take some biscuits, boiled water, hot water, enough bottles, some food that the baby is comfortable enough etc. But, I would be having my 9 year old also with me, and i can comfortably hand the infant over to her during loo breaks etc. I think you can carry water, baby food etc. The security rules do not apply to baby stuff. happy journey!
