living expenses in bay area

We are planning to move in san francisco , bay area.
Before we move we wanted to estimate all living expenses so that we can decide better whether its worth moving or not.

can someone tell approximate expenses for-
house rent
day care
transportation
insurance

Those who are living close to that area can decide better.
How much should be pay sale so that we can save some money after all expenditure. (I know its hard to tell , still appreciate your suggestions)
I am reluctant to move in big city as i feel it involves huge expenditure.
