You should really stop oversharing with your in-laws.
That said, I would also see red if someone suggested I take my child out of private school for this reason. It's none of anyone's business how you raise your child.

 

Are you Really saying the children who go to public schools grow up stupid .....

 

Sending kids to public or private school is your choice. So is how to spend money. Everyone will have some opinion on what to do.

Why did you speak with your sister in law? It’s the problem with your husband and you need to discuss with him. All other discussions with others is not going to help.
