We are in process of getting COVID vaccine appointment. Some people say they felt fine after Covid vaccine, others said they had bad side-effects. As I am going through online scheduling portal right now, I am wondering all these things. My auntie asked me several times to schedule for her, hence I am helping. Kinda freaking out over this.
What kind of side effects? Are they long lasting. One auntie manages her Diabetes, will she be ok? And when I make appointment, the site says try again. I called Pharmacy and they said their systems are overloaded.
Many places are overbooked for the vaccine so you will need to keep trying till you get in. As for side effects the vast majority of of people feel nothing but a very few people have had adverse reactions. You will have to judge your own risk tolerance.
The side effects are milder than disease itself. Thats a given. That said do two things. Once they have their vaccine 1st or 2nd dose, do take the name of the vaccine. Its important that you don't get "mix and match" of vaccine. Given the haste with which these are being administered, it can happen. Secondly, after you take vaccine spend 15 mins to 30 mins in the clinic. There are very rare cases of severe allergic reaction needing medical attention (they put epi-pen injection to control that reaction). Just wait 15-30 minutes. Third, There are few weeks before the protection of vaccine kicks in after both the doses. Allow that time please and keep yourself as safe as you were doing before. Third, no one knows how long and what kind of protection the vaccine provides in an individual. So keep the precautions on. Specially be careful to protect those who are not vaccinated. For example, you take the vaccine (may be both doses) and even waited for few weeks for antibodies to kick in. But then you went outside, got infected but without symptoms because of vaccine. Now say you visited your friend with some medical conditions, they may get covid and they may have a serious illness. Be careful of such possibilities. Also keep on checking news about when the new updates of vaccines are coming to keep you safe.
My husband and I (and all of our colleagues, lab members) received both doses of vaccine. All had none to very mild symptoms (slight fever, fatigue) after the first dose. A few had fever, chills, and headache after the second dose (only lasted for a day).
Yeah, now the Pharmacy shows NO appointments. Someone in my community FB groups said to try at Midnight .....
oHHHHH very good Excellent details!!!!!! Will stay 30+ minutes at the Pharmacy, clinic, etc. Epi-pen? Wow! Will continue to mask, social distance, sanitize, sanitize, sanitize. And of course, make sure vaccine is from same company - mix and match doesn't work here!
