now girls.. this thread was just today started, and its going to be page 2 soon. not sure if i can login for the next 2 days, so a hi to all of you.

latha - i can imagine how tough your situation would be. kids falling sick one after the other after a trip to india. but you still plan for a baking tomorrow. good all is going to be fine tom.

sindhu - keep posting a hi and a note on the storm. take care. did you make the payasam?

nitha - howz chinnu doing now?

krithika - i was reading here and there of your post to see if kiran really did throw the shell on you or on the glass. ok so he is a cute darling.

talking of aniish's tantrums, DD sleeps with chocolates (with wrappers) in hand most of the times. she would say "i will just keep it in my hand and won't eat" and she really does that. if we say no to keeping it in her hand for the reason that she shouldn't get tempted, roof would come down. she loves veggies/fruits.. no issues there. all the more she thinks she eats, goes to school.. all only to grow a long hair like me (note - i only have a hair longer than hers, she still manages to admire that). for now, growing her hair is her only ambition in life. next one is to wear a churidhar with a dupatta. one day she is probably going to do like the kid in some oil/shampoo advertisement "appa neeyum pogaade office" (then you dont go to office) so i sit at home maintaining her hair.

Ramya, :thumbsup:hatsoffBow All of them for you :)) Though you dont rant in detail, i can understand very well. Whether to give in, or not is a BIG BIG decision, on each and every thing :) If you are really down, do come here and post. Or call/sms/write to the ggroup. We all are there :))

Padmini, :thumbsup for running behind this long train :))
Payal, thankyou soooooooooooooooooo much for that doc, on two kids, i have it in my desktop, gonna read it often, its cleansing me sooo much :)))) How is dancing, driving going on??

Asha, I did learn driving some 2yrs back, got a license, did it in a very good institute in Cbe, but lost touch now. Am inspired by you and Payal now, this summer gonna get the refresher course there. Hope i too drive in this city :)

Vanathi, gave a new start uhhhh? Lets see when this thread reaches the 1000th post. How is Aadhu? School send us pics every term, of all their activities, if we request, say my DD's story telling time alone, they do CD write those videos :))

Tikka, :rotfl Today DD asked those nenthiram chips along with her chapathi and green gram dhal. I said you can have them after finishing 2chapatis. Madam finished her meal with 1chapati. Washed hands, left the place. I gave her a look, (what abt your chips kinda look), she immedietly answers, i dont want chips mom, i didnt finish my dinner isnt it? Your friend needs to be in IL :)))))) And yes, she will be alright once she makes new friends, like us :)))))))

Nitha, DD calls DH "Enanga..." :D :D I was calling him by name initially, it became a big issue in in-laws, so learnt this enanga with soooo much dificulty, but DD calls him that way nowadays :)))) How is her infection and your health? DD goes to Budding Minds Play School Welcomes You

Latha, Yess sometimes everything conspire against us :))) You will have a better day tomo, i have sent you my blessings :))

Vanathi, season 4 has started, and thanks for that, but I still find myself unable to catch up. My life's roller coaster is going too fast for me to get a grip on!!!! And the second one hasn't even arrived yet!! *panic*

Nitha, cute that Chinnu called you 'edi'. :)Riya had constant ear infections from 8 months onwards till she was 13 months old and her pedi pumped her with antibiotics month after month until I put my foot down and told her she better find the root cause of her infections. So she sent us to an ENT specialist and it was no surprise to me that he suggested putting tubes in her ears, which is like the norm here in the US. When asked if that would stop the infections he said it won't but it will let the fluid drain out! I didn't like that answer and did more research on my own. I found that allergies can cause upper respiratory congestion like sinus blockage, stuffy nose etc. and that can result in the Eustachian tube blockage which resultantly drainage in the inner ear canal which causes ear infections. I told the ENT specialist that I am not going to put tubes in her ears but would like to see an allergist, which we did. She was on very low dose of allergy medications like Singulair and a nose spray. She hasn't had a single ear infection since then. I hate excessive use of antibiotics and unnecessary surgeries. We later found out Riya has a lot of allergies (hence the immunotherapy shots right now). I am so glad we didn't go in for the tubes, it wouldn't have served any purpose at all! Thought you may want to look into Chinnu's allergies if the ear infections are recurrent. Her body is going to get used to all the antibiotics soon, like Riya's did!

Latha, don't beat yourself up! It's a stress to go shopping with kids in tow. Have you seroiously thought of going grocery shopping on your own on weekends, leaving the kids with your hubby? If he resists or argues, tell him you are listening to his advice and priororizing. ;-)

Sindhu, do you have your emergency kit for the storm ready? I learned that lesson after the huge ice storm hit us last year.

Krithika, that was cute! I wish Riya had waited for another year to ask her 'whys' and 'why nots'. Every conversation we have nowadys ends with a 'why' or 'why not' on her part. I have learned to say two things that kind of shuts her up - 'I don't know' and the second is 'because I am the mommy and I say so'. :) Right now her answer to that is 'okay' but I have a feeling it's not going to last too long.

Hello Rekha, I love the name Laya! beautiful! :)

    Hi to you too padmini.

    Raj

Sindu; P must be highly dissappionted, for cancelling his lil bro's function. I haven't thought about stocking up for this weekend. Thanks for reminding:))
Latha; All the best for baking bread. My experiences with yeast are not great. I tried baking bread and buns a year back, when Jay's mom was here(the recipe from blog). it turned out sunken in middle and crust was too thick. The taste was ok; but the teeth had a hard time chewing it:)))I didn't have(still don't) an FP. So after doing all those pouncing and kneading my hands was totally damaged:((( FP makes it a breezy job; I guess. I am planning to buy a BM.
Asha; do post the pic of your daughter. I would love to see her long hair and ofcourse yours too. I like to see long hair; just seeing. I grew my hair for a year when parents were looking for alliance. After I got married; before the reception; I cut it. Jay still calls me a cheater:)))
Pon; Let me check the site. Ennage;) Ohhh..kids learns things so fast; just by observing. Hope they learn their geometry theory and proofs that easily:)))

Riya and I are having a good day so far. I had MOPS group gathering today (Mothers of PreSchoolers), and it was good to be in fellowship with moms who are rocking in the same boat. Riya was in the nursery with her friends, and I was told she did really well.

It's been raining here since last night and so the moms group that I started at our church a couple months back is not going to meet tonight, which I am a little bummed about. It's freezing temp too here all this rain is going to freeze on the road which makes it very bad for driving. The group meets every Friday night. I will be so happy to see the end of this winter.

Oh, and we had another Kuro Kishi adventure last night. Kuro is our 7 year old male dog. He's a japanese hunting dog, a Shiba Inu, and so is prone to his hunting genes and runs out of the house and just dashes away! Doesn't even look back! Leela, our female 3 year old Lab/Collie mix would go out and come back when called but not Kuro! He got out right before hubby was taking them out for their daily walk around 8:45 pm. Hubby got in his car and drove around for an hour looking for him, we also called another friend of ours who got in their car and looked for him in a different neighborhood, while I was sitting outside the house in the cold thinking he may come back on his own. It doesn't happen usually, but Kuro came back looking happy after an hour. That stinker! I was sitting out there crying and praying for this silly dog. It was freezing last night too, and I was worried how he'll manage!

So that's about it from my side. Talk to you all soon.

    Raj

Thanks Raj; for the info's. Yes; the ped. was telling me if 6 ear infection happens in a year, she might need to be on tubes. Its her third. Two kids of my friend's already did it. I am so worried sick. Pus sort of discharge is comin from her eyes.Yes; maybe I need to check for allergies. I am not so comfortable to go into such surgeries.
Ohh...Kuro went for a happy hour ha:)) Glad that he is back home. Since he know to find theway backyou need not worry now for him. He will be back home after his adventures:))

Wow! The thread is moving in full swing

    V Thanks for Season 4

Tikka - K is super cute. I remember "She sells sea shells on the seashore" ask him to repeat it without any mistake next time. I can't believe that L threw a fit today. DH casually shouted at her for throwing her toy on the ground and she didn't look at DH and sat on the ground and started blabbering to herself. For a sec I didn't understand then I realised she didn't like the shouting and soon we started "Come here baby" and there a big smile.
Pon - I think you can hug DH too na. Once Vishal has grown up a bit, you will have we time, till then enjoy the me time. You can hammer us with your rants :rant. Did you give DD the nenthiram chips then?
AD - I will go thru the C-T joke tomorrow. I like the earlier one of the women and mother. DH somehow has got over commenting on my cooking :) I think he read the joke oops. Latha - Is it your anniversary today?
Asha - Your DD is amazingly sweet. I like the way she immitates DS. Thoroughly entertaining for you.
Nitha – Sending Chinnu get well soon wishes. We have an Organisation “Nanhi Kali” and Give India. The contribution goes from one’s salary, Nanhi Kali is for a girl child and Give India is for sponsoring a child, they could give the details of the child too.
    Padmini – Come on in.
Sindhu - Why are Men from Mars? Now I know why! I too get those awful comments, other day DH said “DD has such an artificial smile”, I just said you, SIL and her daughters all have default artificial smile. DH was dumbstruck and burst laughing helpless. I am waiting for the day DH changes his useless statement. Storm! Take care.
Himani – Gr8 for the dancing moves. I like the josh. Also driving classes that’s simply wonderful with two kids. Gr8 going.
Raj – Hugs. It surely is a roller coaster ride. I know for sure you are doing well.
Vidya – Good to know the grandpa is doing fine.
Vanathi – How is your backache?

The food fair was good. The Veg Chinese Chops were sold out. It was more of a fair for a cause. One can contribute the entire sum or part of it. My work is increasing at office and I am able to login only after I am at home. Ladies please bear with me.
We will be leaving out of Mumbai tomorrow to DH’s cousin’s farm house at Palghar – 3 hours drive from Mumbai.

    Have a gr8 weekend.

    girls,

i must tell you that sometime late last year this thread got very slow and i got so worried. i'm very glad we've all got together as a big gang. can't tell you what a big difference venting out here makes to my day:)

A is much better. he said sorry in the evening. his version is 'amma i was tired so i was trouble'... i'm glad he realised and apologised:) i had to put the kids to bed... they seem to be exhausted. must take them out on sunday for some good work-out if the weather is good too.

really?? A does that too. keeping his candies in hand. DH doesn't allow that so that's kind of special when daddy isn't home. most times he's kind of disciplined to say i'll have this for dessert. but then he makes sure he eats less and jump to the dessert part:( i do hope all is fine tomorrow:)

wish A says that too:( thank you dear Pon amma for the blessings. i do need that in loads:) you know how irritating this dry cough can be. i'm drinking herbal tea, milk with panam kalkandu (palm sugar candy is it?), gorgle but it'll not leave until it wants!!!!

No Sindhu it's on tuesday:) no nose ring. i wanted to buy while in Chennai. DS had a cute conversation on monday in the bus. 'amma what is the white thing you have in your nose. nobody in germany has like that' 'that's mookuthi, chellamma' 'you've seen that in india. in india many ladies wear that. like paati (grandmother), athai' 'oh yes amma. appa's amma (my MIL) wears on both nose, big ones. it's yucky!' 'you don't wear that big one, okay' 'and don't make ananya wear like that'... disclaimer : he uses 'yucky' to anything that's not looking good or rather that he thinks doesn't look that good!

Raj i do that week-end me-myself shopping when the weather is good. DH is pretty sweet in that way. he insists on driving me around. i show him the list and plan in the morning and we leave mostly after lunch. he baby-sits the kids in car while i shop quickly. trouble is we've a very tiny fridge and i can't stock up much. also since i know the shops are just a stone's throw away i prefer to buy things like vege, fruits on a daily basis like we do back home. it's actually not a difficult thing but due to this kind of unexpected sickness if i'm stuck at home it becomes a hassle.

i have tried breads only couple of times and they were not that satisfactory. thing is i don't venture into these things with guts. i do too much of background research and then am exhausted at that level itself. when you have time check out 'www.thekneadforbread.com' it's a lovely blog on breadmaking that i found last week-end. they even have a step-by-step instruction for all recipes. needless to say i'm hooked onto it:) I'd love to have a FP too. Had been at Chitvish's home for a step-by-step. amazed at how quick the FP kneads dough for roti and so soft too. right now i don't have any more place for a gadget in this tiny kitchen. already i've dumped a part of my kitchen things in our wardrobe. i don't know... our indian cooking needs so many vessels and raw materials:(

Lee - have a very well deserved break. farm house sounds like a great vacation spot:)

    Latha
