It is true, Nivedi that they become a member of the family. We are still in shock that he passed away so soon. He is only 3 and a half years old.
    Thanks for your kind words.

    Sri,
May Cocoa's soul rest in peace. Sorry I could not write much yesterday, as I was busy. How are you feeling, today? As a pet owner, I know how difficult it will be for you and your family especially for your daughter who took care of him. When I told my family about your pet they felt bad too. My DH had a pet named Alex and he could not forget him till date. But what to do? Nothing is in our hands.

    Take care!

It is true, Sindhuja that nothing is in our hands.
I can feel how husband feels about the loss of Alex. May Alex's soul rest in peace.
the impact of the loss is subdued, not much. This will be in our memories forever.
My daughter has decided to write a poem on Cocoa. When it is done i will surely publish it here. I think this is the best way to take the burden off her mind.

    Sri,
That is so nice of your daughter to write a poem on Cocoa. Looking forward to read the poem. One of my friend who lost her cat wrote a poem and framed it along with her cat's picture.

    Hello

My condolences to you and your family. I cannot imagine what you are going through. We have a golden retriever his name is Puppy. I am yet to be blessed with a child, he is our son.
When i was in india we lost our german shepherd he was just a puppy, we lost him due to parvo. Our family was so distraught me and my mom cried forever. After him, we decided never to get another pet, but we ened up buying another german who was also named tiger just like him. He is 7 1/2 yrd old now.

Whenever you are in a better frame of mind, please tell us about cocoa. I would love to know more about him.

    Take care

    Hi Sanraj,
thanks for your kind words. We looked upon him as one of our family member. My daughter doesn't like if anybody referred to him as 'it'. She will get very angry.
We bought him from a shelter, when he was around 2 1/2 - 3months old. He just looked like a tiny brown bear. When he grew he became big just like golden retriever. We used call him "singa kutti' which means 'tiger cub'. He looked the same as that.
he used to chase all that is moving from the butterfly, birds, squirrels, cats, turtles, small insects to cars and vans and what not. First he will bark at any strangers and once they are known to him he will go wagging his tail and play with them. He doesn't like anybody to talk with my husband and my daughter. He will bark to get the attention. He is very playful but he hasn't bit anybody or any furniture. He liked to eat carrots, idlies, chapathis, sunflower seeds, peanuts, bread, cheese alongwith with his dogfood.
He is afraid of the firecrackers and the thunder and lightning. He will come inside the house only during the nights. If he feel it is going to rain he will bark and come inside.
He had different barking tones to different needs of him. When he needs attention he will whine and make a loud yawning sound, if he is caught somewhere in the bushes, his bark will be different.
He is an escort when we leave the house. He will come running and wag his tail and bark at even the slightest movement, even if it is a small cat. He will see to it that we don't get in any trouble.
He used to sit inside the house only in the middle of the room. When my mother-in-law wants to get to the other side, he used to move himself before she asks him to move. But later on, he will move only to the extent which she will need by either lifting his head to a certain degree or move only a little bit of his body. We enjoyed his intelligence in this regard.
Whenever my husband comes home or leaves the house he will come near him as if to say goodbye.
He will eat only if my husband asks him to do so. Later on he used to eat food whenever i give him. As he was used to us he will take whatever we give him.
Thanks Sanraj in bringing about the issue to write about Cocoa. Heavy burden seems to be lifted from me.

You will soon be blessed with a child, God will answer your prayers and I will also keep you in my prayers for the same.
    Sriniketan
