There are many people from different ethinicity struggle and wait on a long line to get their greencard while their immigrant children are growing in the US. This is the only country they know and for them to be deported once they turn 18 particularly in the absence of any other visa status such as student visa, is already causing a lot of aggrevation. This topic was discussed extensively in this forum earlier. Now, the new incoming administration is contemplating a policy to negate the existing law that the children born in the United States automatically are the US citizens. If they succeed, by being born in the US soil, the children will not automatically be considered as the US citizen unless one of his/her parents are already a greencard holder or the US citizen. This may affect more families waiting on the line to get their greencard to have a family. On another occasion, the President-elect said he welcomes legal immigration and even would consider anyone who is graduating in the US school to automatically get a visa status to work in the United States with a path to become citizen. Hopefully, better sense prevail removing the obstalces of these families. Family separation is always a painful process and the courts have ruled against it even in case of illegal immigrants.
