Let's use this thread to improve our English vocabulary. Everyday, one of us could suggest a new word, and give it's meaning. Everyone who visits the thread can then post a sentence that uses the word of the day. You could even post synonyms, antonyms if you like.

    Here's the first word: "SOLICIT"

    Meanings:
To seek to obtain by persuasion, entreaty, or formal application
    To petition persistently

sentence: It is common for a candidate to solicit people around him for votes when the election draws near.

    Good initiative sofiz:thumbsup

    New word - "Solicitous"

    Meaning(s) -
    1. Anxious or concerned Eg: Solicitous about everyone's well being.
    2. Careful Eg: She was a solicitous accountant
    3. Eager Eg: She was always solicitous to have guests come over.

This one is a bit tricky!!
Though we may tend to think that it is similar to 'solicit', the meaning has no obvious similarity .
