Leander Paes Wins Mixed Doubles at Wimbledon

    Leander Paes won his sixth Mixed Doubles crown, by winning the Wimbledon title, parterning with Zimbabwe's Cara Black.

    The pair defeated, Wesley Moodie of South Africa and Lisa Raymond of USA 6-4, 7-6 yesterday. They were seeded second in the tournament.

    Its Paes' 23rd Grand Slam finals. He has already won 6 men's doubles title. With this win, he has moved one head of Mahesh Bhupathi, who has won 11 Grand Slam titles -4 doubles and 7 mixed doubles.

    Leander have once won bronze in 1996 Olympics. Other than that i guess he is more into mixed doubles or with doubles only...

    Anyways a Good news after Saina's hat-rick:)

    No Gayathri..he hasn't won a Slam in singles. He is a doubles specialist.

    I guess he has won only one ATP singles title (I may have to recheck)..that was way back in late 1990s.

    Yeah you are right about that olympic medal. And he has won in Asian games too na.

    Its great to see him going on like this..at the age of 37 :)

    Thanks for the info frens........If there are any international titles that Sania Mirza holds they are only the doubles with Paes/Bhupati...thanks to them she has atleast some title to her credit....:spin

    She is on a 3yr contract with GVK and thats y they are still sponsering her....wud be intersting to know what wud happen once the contract comes to end....:hide:
