    Dear inimai
the borders were kept outside, visibly, when i went to the pandiyan stores. only in this store they sell kundan and zardosi worked borders. but you enquire in the near by raja threads also. As far as RS stores when i last visited they did not have this type of borders but other works as borders. you can just enquire them embroidered border with kundan and zardosi work. you can also ask them for other borders and what are available with them.

    love

    Hello Rama

To trace a design on saree or a blouse, first take a photocopy of the design and then use a needle or a safety pin to make dots very close to each other along the desings and complete it fully. In a small bowl take some amount of kerosene and add chalk powder use one or two chalks and take a piece of cloth.

Keep the dotted design on the material(saree) dip the piece of cloth in the kerosene and chalk powder mix, squeeze it and apply the cloth on top of the dotted design.

Leave it for 5 min. then remove the paper and the design will be on the saree.

Kerosene will be evaporated easily, so no worries in using this.

    Thanks and Regards
    Lakshmi

Hi Lakshmi, Sounds like a wonderful idea. Does the kerosene cause problems if the material is silk or some dry-clean only material?
    Thanks, Nisha

    Hi Nisha,

Usually the saree designers using the kerosene to trace the designs. No it doesnt cause any problems in silk and dry clean material only..

I think you are very much interested in saree designing..
If you want to have stones on your saree, you can easily done at your home
not like using the gum, its very hectic to use gum and stick the stone on the saree.

1.Get the stones from the shop (decide the size color, variety)
    2. Keep the saree on the ironing table
    3. place the stones on the saree, you have to place the stones only for the iron box
    size.( 15cm)
4.If the design is like a rose you arrange the stones above the design.
5.Place the news paper (2 sheets) on the design.
6Heat the iron box (normal) and press on the top of the paper 4 to 5 times
7 remove the paper and the stones will be perfectly stick on the saree
    8. Repeat the steps 3 to 7 untill the saree is to be completed

It will take 2 to 3 days to finsh a saree not more than that.

If we do it for silk saree, it looks good. It is very cheaper too.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Lakshmi

    Hello Saahitya

The designs in the pictures are all mostly zardozi work..
I think you might have seen in the designer sarees, mostly they will use sthe gold and silver color and depends upon the saree color .

It is very easy to make a design.
In stores, kundan stone is available in two types

one type is to Stick on the material
Another one is to stitch on the material using a the needle and the normal thread.(it has two holes)

once you finished the stone work say example you make arranged the kundan stones like the below pictureb

Then make a rough measurement for a kundan stone and cut the zardoshi af such measurment.
Insert the needle from backside of the saree to the front side and take the zardozi in to the needle and and take out the needle back side of the saree
    likewise it has to do
