    Hello,
I am not clear from your quesion.
    1. Do you want to put your kid in kumon classes??
It might be too early to put your 3 yrs old to kumon.
    2. Do you want to work at Kumon as teacher??
It depends on the center hours, there might be other teachers as well.
One of my friend works at Kumon in MASS, she works from 10-2 on saturdays.
Other friend works on saturday 10-3, sunday 12 - 2 and tuesday 4-7
It depends on you as well
    3. Do you want to open a Kumon center??
I am not sure of the details of opening a center.

    Thanks,
    Punitha

    Re: KUMON Classes-THEY ARE ENRICHING

    HI,

I am Jithiks, from Glen Allen Virginia. I replied to this KUMON THREAD sometime back, but seems my reply is missing.
Wanted to give some information and tips abt KUMON.

I wanted to let you all know, that i have been sending my sons to Kumon for the past 7 yrs ( my first son) and 5 years (my second son). KUMON has been very helpful and really enriched my childrens education in both MATH and READING.

I am happy to share that both my children are placed in Advanced classes in their school. I completely owe my thanks to KUMON.

The students are given aptitude tests initially and placed in levels accordingly. There are 200 worksheets for each level ( they are repeated twice or thrice) depending on how the kids do it) Then at the end of each level, they are given a test and if they pass, they are issued a certificate too.
I can share more information in the further posts.:)

Also, I have seen the centers in many states like california,Florida and now in Virginia. The standard is the same but the fees will definitely differ from state to state.
Any more questions abt KUMON, you can pls direct them to me.

    Thanks
    Jithiks

    Hi,

I hail from Texas where the centers are too good and my 2 sons had been going for it and have gained a lot out from the maths and reading program.

I have this general question which I guess was asked in this forum. why can't we open a kumon center in chennai.

Chennai might have been known for big institutes and research centers and good education institutions but do we have good infrastructure. We see kumon centers being in all over US and how it ably maintained.

I have heard people saying we have many teachers in our family or in my community where there is rich pool of teachers and they make up a good team in Chennai and can help kids in chennai to get benefited out of this. But do you think we have a place in the heart of city to establish a center like this and if at all we set up a center the people who can afford to send their kids will be upper middle class and rich families.

Do you think it is good idea to open kumon centers in chennai? Will it reach all kids from poor to rich? Please let me know your thoughts.

I think Kumon is ok at the beginning. My child has been using Kumon for a while. It helped my child in math calculation skills. But over time, the benefit is no longer that visible and we feel more pressure on its monthly bills. Then we accepted the advice from our neighbor, and started to do the worksheets on Beestar (Beestar.org - Math and Reading for Kids). To my surprise, she loves the 10 quick questions very much and it really helps kids thinking. Plus, I also don’t have to drive her to kumon. Maybe you also can have a try.
