I have recently referred to beestar for math worksheet for my kid. He loves it, so do I. Since math is free we started immediately and he got ribbon for his work very week.

If you are new to this site, it's fantastic(beestar .org). The questions are problem-solving type, good to help kids thinking.

I saw a lot of kids from California on Beestar's Honor Roll list. So I look for suggestions here. I wonder if I should take English (ELA) and GT math from them as well, those 2 are paid exercises but only $20-$30 for semester, really nothing compared to Kumon. Most of all, my kid asked more things to do from Beestar site.

My quesion is if I register for beestar ELA, should I go ahead drop Kumon entirely? I am getting a bit tired of paying and driving for kumon, and recently kids lose interest since the formats are kind of boring.

I appreciate if you have any suggestion about beestar and kumon.

Hi Meena,

I have no idea about this beestar. I should definitely check it out. As for Kumon, there is a separate thread for it and I have posted replies on it. So please check them out.

Hi Meena,

The thread is under
Indus ladies> Education, Work and Money> Working Women> Kumon

It was started by one of our ILlites who wanted to know details about starting a Kumon Franchise. Then the topic had shifted to experiences at Kumon.
So I had given my feedback under that section.
Probably this KUMON topic should be shifted to the EDUCATION thread...i guess.:confused2:
One of our senior IL can shed more light into this since they can only move this thread to a different Forum and make it more visible.

Meanwhile, let me know if you were able to find that thread. If not, I will post the reply once again.

Hi Meena,

Did you start this thread of Kumon Vs beestar under 2 sections? I see they are posted under Indians in the West and Indians in the Northeast!
Hope one of the senior ILlites can help us to compile it under the EDUCATION>KUMON section.
Meanwhile, were you able to find the thread for Kumon?

This is Jithiks(Krithika) once again. You had started thread abt kumon vs beestar...right? Anyway, i checked out this site and looks like it is free only for the first week and then we need to register.

Have you already started your son in this? How different is this from Kumon?
I will also try to post the experience I had with Kumon here also.

Here are my thoughts on KUMON.
I have included my experience since i have 2 sons still attending it. My first son has been in KUMOn for the past 8 years and the second one for the past 5 years.

I am Jithiks, from Glen Allen Virginia. I replied to this KUMON THREAD sometime back, but seems my reply is missing.
Wanted to give some information and tips abt KUMON.

I wanted to let you all know, that i have been sending my sons to Kumon for the past 7 yrs ( my first son) and 5 years (my second son). KUMON has been very helpful and really enriched my childrens education in both MATH and READING.

I am happy to share that both my children are placed in Advanced classes in their school. I completely owe my thanks to KUMON.

The students are given aptitude tests initially and placed in levels accordingly. There are 200 worksheets for each level ( they are repeated twice or thrice) depending on how the kids do it) Then at the end of each level, they are given a test and if they pass, they are issued a certificate too.
I can share more information in the further posts.

Also, I have seen the centers in many states like california,Florida and now in Virginia. The standard is the same but the fees will definitely differ from state to state.

I was trying to pose the other thread to here since you told me that was not a best place for the topic. I somehow had to change the topic when adding it to here.

To answer your question, the site beestar gives math free all year long for all students of g1-6, hard to believe, isn't it. I was very excited. We will stay with it to grade 6. However I will have to pay for reading, GT etc. Let me know what do you think about the programs.

BTW this programs were created by one local city 50 miles from us, so we found some known friends listed on the site, so it's very funny My son loves it, for him this is like a math competition game.

Anyway. have to go now.

Beestar is a useful website. Thanks for sharing it with us.

I haven't yet registered my children but my son tried a few tests and he liked it.

Haven't sent my children to Kumon, so wouldn't know the difference between Kumon and Beestar.
