    Potato Podimas

    Ingredients:

    Cooked Potatoes – 2 ( cook potatoes with salt in a pressure cooker )
    Green chilli - 1 -2 chop finely
    Ginger - 1 tbsp chopped finely
    Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
    Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp chopped finely
    Salt - to taste
    1 tsp lemon juice

    For seasoning:

    Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
    Urad Dhal - 1/2 tsp
    Chana dal – ½ tsp
    Asafoetida (Perungayam) - a pinch
    Curry leaves – few
    Oil - 1 tsp

    Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dhal and chana dal.
    Let it splutter.
    Add curry leaves, Asafoetida , turmeric powder, green chilli and ginger.
    Fry for a minute.
    Add mashed potatoes and add required salt and mix well.
    If needed add some water in it.
    Let it be on the stove for 2-3 mins .
    Add coriander leaves and switch off.
    Add 1 tsp lemon juice and mix well.
    Yummy Potato Podimas is ready to serve.

    Note: You can add coconut in the recipe if you like coconut :)

    Green Plantain - Vaazakkai Podimaas

    Ingredients:

    Cooked green Plantain – 2 ( cook Vaazhakkai with salt in a pressure cooker)
    Green chilly - 1 -2 chop finely
    Ginger - 1 tbsp chopped finely
    Coriander leaves - 1 tbsp chopped finely
    Salt - to taste
    1 tsp lemon juice

    For seasoning:

    Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
    Urad Dhal - 1/2 tsp
    Chana dal – ½ tsp
    Asafoetida (Perungayam) - a pinch
    Curry leaves – few
    Oil - 1 tsp

    Remove skin from the cooked plantain.
    Grate them and keep aside.
    Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dhal and chana dal.

    Let it splutter.
    Add curry leaves, Asafoetida , green chilly and ginger.
    Fry for a minute.
    Add grated cooked plantain and add required salt and mix well.
    Let it be on the stove for 2-3 mins .
    Add coriander leaves and switch off.
    Add 1 tsp lemon juice and mix well.
    Yummy Green Plantain Podimas is ready to serve.

    Note: You can add coconut in the recipe if you like coconut. Also if you want you can add turmeric powder and make yellow podimas :)
