We keep a first aid kit [iodine soaked towelette sachets, band-aids, cooling Aloe-gel, alcohol, etc.. ] in the kitchen. Inadvertent touching of the hot metal pot handle/lid, finger cut with knife/chipped-broken glass or ceramic, or something on the countertop falling on the foot are the usual accidents that need first aid.

Never had an appliance related mishap that is serious enough to remember. Apparently this happens a lot.

Nobody can argue the handiness of an immersion blender. They save you the time of dragging out the big blender, and let you whiz up your sauces and soups right in their own pot. Another plus? They're super easy to clean... unless you forget to unplug it first.

The New York Times reported countless stories of home cooks slicing and dicing their fingers while trying to dislodge food from the blades of their immersion blenders, and that's because the power button has something of a hair trigger. It's just a little too easy to turn it on while handling it — and if it's plugged in, you're in trouble. According to Consumer Reports, more than 9,600 blender (both standard and immersion) injuries were treated in 2015, up from 7,000 in 2011.

But even in the face of lawsuits, Cuisinart spokesperson Mary Rodgers said the design is unlikely to change. "We've had discussions over the years about how maybe you could enclose the blade or something," she said, "but the way the blender functions, the food has to be sucked up to where the blade is, so that hasn't materialized." So the onus is on us: Don't touch the blades if the machine is running or plugged in. Or as Rodgers put it, perhaps a bit callously, "It's like anything else. If you have a knife and you aren't paying attention, not thinking about exactly what you're doing, if you touch it, you're going to get cut."

Not just blenders, but all other appliances can cause serious damage. Even boiling water in a ceramic cup using a microwave [read in link]. And everyone's favorite appliance INSTANT POT is also mentioned in the essay.

This reminds me the shock I had the other day. It was monsoon rains. Humidity was very high. Rain water splashing on outer wall percolated into the switch bos inside. Moisture laden switch gave me the shock as I flicked it on.

Electric Rice cooker steam issuing out of from around the lid condensed on to the switch board where the power plugged in. A mere touch of the plug before being pulled out gave electric shock to the cook.

Modern electric appliances are to be handled carefully. Even pressure cooker can be deadly. My Neighbour too had a narrow escape. It was just his spouse and he left the kitchen to a distant dinning area when the then new brand pressure cooker exploded causing crater on the ceiling and two burner gas stove broke into two.

    Modern living!
Ancient methods passé prone to less accidents. Modern methods vulnerable to thoughtless workers.

The other day ? Sounds like a recent event. Aren't you some kind of engineer? Have you fixed the problem ?
When people get an electric shock, only skin-burn level shocks would affect the heart muscle. Minor shocks can make people unsteady and fall. Older persons falling would always result in painful consequences.
If you have not fixed that problem already (HH, and monsoons happen again and again), someone else who isnt as lithe as you are might get into serious trouble. Get with it, and report back here. There are plenty of DIY help on the internet, such as this one: Electric Shock and Leakage of Current | Prevention from Electric Shocks | Preventive Measures for Electric Shocks - GharExpert.com.
