aappam new method [suitable for 'maddikkaral'

There are so many methods to prepare Aappam.
We can add cooked rice or cooked kanji with the aappa batter.
But older generation[adopting maddi or vattru] did not want to add rice or kanji to use next day as this is called 'pazhayathu'.
To suit older generation this method of aappam preparation is best.

    Raw rice 1 cup
    boiled rice 1 cup
    urud dhal 1/5 th cup
    fenugreek 1 tsp
    beaten rice[aval] 2 table spoon

Rinse all these items and soak four or five hours.
grind smooth paste with salt like dosa batter.keep it whole night.Morning you can add thick coconut milk or coconut paste with the batter. The batter may be more loose than dosa batter.Make aappam in appa chatti.Or you can make thick appam in dosa kall cover it with lit.Top will be soft and bottom like dosa.It should not be turned other side.when we cover the appam top portion also cooked well and soft.
You can eat this with any curry, stew or even, sambar cutney, chammanthi etc

    Dear Mrs Seeta,

Really so nice to see this recipe! I have a set of ladies who have taken Rishi Panchami, visiting me on and off. This recipe will be very useful when they come. That apart my mom also observes some madi,so I will try this recipe for her and post a FB.

I must apologise for not sending you even a thanks let alone a FB for the pappadam recipes. Thank you for digging out the priceless old books and keying in the recipes.

I was in Muvattupuzha/Perumbavoor last week and thought of you.

    affly
    Vidya
