We have semi formal Diwali lunch at our office. We are in USA.

i recently purchased silk blend saree that looks lovely for everyday use

hiwever I blinked up a matching blouse with rhinestones

I would fell silly to wear this combo for everyday use

if I first wear at office for daily use, and then wear to Diwali lunch, it would be a fashion faux pas

My question is how do I practice wearing a saree at home for an event without ruining it?
I only have a manaquin , not a full length mirror.

Silk blend sarees won't get spoilt so easily.

Practice wearing saree on your self.

When you feel you have worn it well, take pic for future reference.

Then , just pin up the pleats together from top to bottom .You can use safety pins or bobby pins to hold the pleats together

Remove the saree and fold or hang for future use.

Remove the pins that are not required once you wear the saree.

For everyday use...you can wear the saree with a crop top....looks casual and fun.

Just check' wearing saree with crop top' on U tube....you will get lot of ideas.

I will wear with crop top.

I was wondering if I should wear same saree with crop top before I wear same saree with embellished blouse to semi formal event.

this is a simple orange pumpkin and plain saree.

    maybe I am overthinking ???

    Thanks for tagging me:)

I am personally not very good at dripping sarees but use YouTube for help.

Also I usually leave the pallu loose and not pin it so that it covers the flaws of the pleat

You can buy fabrics (for the same length as that of saree) from Joann or similar stores as well if you don't want to repeat the saree.

@SuiDhaaga this is really matter of personal preference.
I would not wear Diwali saree for daily use, just to make it or feel special. Not for others, but for myself, I feel special when i feel different, not so worn clothes or blingy on diwali or bdays etc. Once big reveal done, i would wear it with simpler blouse...Again personal opinion.
Practice at home, and do not cook while in saree, do not treadmill or clean or jumping around saree will be good... as long as long you do not do anything like this.
Even normal daily wear clothes do not get dirty here...

    Exactly!

I will introduce this saree with blinged blouse on Diwali luncheon

Afterwards I will wear same saree with simpler blouse

I will walk around lightly at home while wearing saree
