Kanu Pongal - want to know the verse we recite Dear Chithra mami and other friends, Can any of you give here the recitation we make on the day of Kanu pongal while we offer the mixed rice to the crows? I have always been impressed by its rhyming and its meaning with respect to keeping the family together but cant remember the full verse now. Thanks and advance wishes to all for Pongal. Cheers, Sumathy

Re: A Kolam we had in front of our flat Hai Rajmi, chinna.... chinna kaiyaalaa colour potta ungha kuzhanthaikkum & ungallukkum&fly ,iniya pongal nal vaazhthukal.
Dear Chitra ma'm, The details of kanu and the vaazhthu is simply superb. It makes one nostalgic and I went back to those days when my amma and pakkathaathu mamis used to keethify manjal for me and friends....Your writeups should be printed and passed on to the next generation.Nowhere one can get such treasures of our culture...Bowto you... Love Meena
Dear Chitra Madam, Today after we kept Kannu pidi, my mom did the Manjal keetru for me.I was asking her why we do this on this day. You had given me a beautiful explanation. Ungalukkum ungal kudumbathinarukum en manamarnda pongal nalvazhthukal A very happy pongal to all the Ilites.
Dear Manasa, I posted it here, lest this lovely wish be forgotten by future generations!! Thanks. Love, Chithra.
dear chithra madam, nice post - never thought people still rememebers such rituals... in these days of love, girl friend, boy friend, valentines day and nuclear families... raksha bandhan is given iota of importance, but kanu pidi is never even known to many..... ( i also did kanu pidi at home today but all alone no brother sisters around... all in their own cities, work and family... felt very unhappy and lonely after doing it... that is why to get rid of loneliness came to IL site...
dear Durga, Why worry when we are all around eachother in a virtual family?? In IL, never say, I am all alone! Feel happy that we have a good support system here!! All the best. Love, Chithra.
