hi, this is a poem i dedicate to the many many wives who stay back in india, when their husbands are working abroad...especially the wives of junior level workers in gulf..who don't even get a chance once in two years.....(I have written it in hindi...if somebody wants i will give the translation...)

Woh bachon ke saath masti, woh hastein huye pal,
Aankhon mein abhi bhi basi hein batein jo huyi kal,
logon ko lagti hai mushkil waqt hai guzaarney me......
lekin unka zindagi guzar rahi hei harey kagaz kamane me...

Mann khush kar letein hain hum tasveerein dekh key...
phone toh guma letein hai awaz sun ney..
Lekin kya bol ke khush karegein mere nanne bacchon ko...
Jo lagey bhaiteh hain ankhein bitchaiay rashtey peh....

    pankaj neh gaayi chiiti aayiiiiii...
sun letein hain wohbhi jab watan ki yaad aayi...
kya karein sirf kar sakte hain intezaar ..
Kab woh aaye wapas hamare dwaar...

    hi satya,

    aap ne kiya wah wah,
    Dil ho gaya bahut kush.

thanks for stepping... Yes as you said they may earn very little,
though koolo kanjiyo is nice to talk but in today's demands and necessities...it is not possible for many of them....but the actual fact is a cleaner gets 10 thousands a month there and he can very safely save and send more...so the akkarai pasumai is a pull for lot..but the other side of the coin, the same person will not like to this in his own place...:idontgetit:.. am i deviating...

Poetry is something close to my heart...i thank my hindi teacher who taught me to appreciate it more and to attempt writing it also...

    hello shanthi

    illappa
    you were not deviating...
    akkarai pasumayo illayo
    familya povathaga irunthaal
    then definitely ok...

    my reasons for saying...
that was a time when quite a few went abroad to work...some with a drivers licence and like vadivelu in vetrikodi kattu worked cleaning toilets...never mind the work..but people here often looked forward to the check that came a landing promptly...some spent it lavishly on clothes and jewellery...if the recipents were brothers they went a boozing and spending on things that cannot be worded here.....ya as wife or husband one can save perhaps have a house and good education for kids...
please shanti understand this is entirely my opinion and i hope will not hurt your feelings or anybody who chose to live separately and still enjoy marriage....
the best time to be with kids is when they are growing up....if you look back most of us are not fortunate enough to get a great legacy...a house car etc etc...but we do live and look back on memories....
parents may not be with us when we will find the time for them
children may part with education or work elsewhere...
we may come together as husband and wife...when the old age illness invariably set in...and howmuch ever you have saved or whatever.......is not going to equal the times you could have spent together....
tell me is any son or daughter happy with a house jewellery excetra minus love ?
again shanti please do not mistake me...or take it personally...

    sathya

    sunkan,

thanks. i also agree...with you...it is choice for some. it is necessity for others...

poori umar gujar gayee unke raah takte...
ayeh woh magar jab hamari ankhon ki roshini chali gayi...

hope it does not happen that way...

    hi sathya,

our decision was out of choice. and as i have been saying veda is trying to come back. i was with him till last year. now had to take this decision because of his father who is alone. and he tries to make it up for the kids by calling and chatting with them.. (we had to go because of the high expenditure medical expense for his mom...she is no more...and not after money.)

As you say, no amount of money is going to be compensating for your happiness..

But the picture is bad...i agree.last week was talking to my bank manager..he was telling me a couple had joint account...the husband was sending money from gulf..the wife...used to just spend..the husband when he came for vacation he was shocked to find that his account was cleaned and the wife was missing..she went of with somebody...
We have a friend. whose wife just before going for delivery wiped out the savings account went home, has filed divorce..i could go on...

but for all those who are working out of necessity....the stories are very pathetic...(i say pathetic because it is not emotional or touching something beyond that...)

I am not taking anything personal..you are free to voice your opinion....
