National Handwriting Day is an opportunity to reintroduce yourself to a pen or pencil and a piece of paper. In this day of computers, more and more information, notes, and letters are sent back and forth via a keyboard and cyberspace.
According to the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association (WIMA) website "The purpose of National Handwriting Day is to alert the public to the importance of handwriting. According to WIMA, National Handwriting Day is a chance for all of us to re-explore the purity and power of handwriting."
Some of the available documentation we read, suggests concern by stationary, paper companies, and pen and pencil manufacturers that the electronic world will shrink demand for their products. But, indeed, statistics show that pen(or pencil) and paper are alive and well, with a growing demand.
Participate in National Handwriting Day by writing a note or letter to someone. Love letters are cool. Notes to people who are ill or incapacitated will be well received.

<hr> Origin of National Handwriting Day: National Handwriting Day was established by the Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association in 1977. Their motive is obvious...to promote the consumption of pens, pencils, and writing paper.
January 23rd was chosen because this is the birthday of John Hancock. John Hancock was the first person to sign the Declaration of Independence.

Beer Can Appreciation Day celebrates that great day in 1935 when beer was first sold in cans.

Okay, laugh if you will. But, believe me when I say that Beer Can Appreciation Day is a big and important day to many people.

A lot of people do not know that there's a huge number of beer can collectors out there. Collectors meticulously open a beer can from the bottom, empty it (and drink the beer, of course), then wash and dry it. For beer can collectors, there is no shortage of types of beer, cans and bottles, and sizes. A beer can collector may have hundreds of cans and bottles.

News You Can Use: There's a market for beer cans. If you come across an old can, do not throw it out. Rather, check out the prices in a collector's catalog, or on Ebay.

Beer Can Appreciation Day provides us with the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the many different kinds of beer cans. Enjoy today by starting, or adding to your beer can collection. As you empty the new cans, drink the contents. Afterall, you don't want to be wasteful do you?

Compliment Day. Today is a great opportunity to say something positive about the people you come into contact with. Everyone has good attributes. ...that's right....... everyone.

    • Its a cinch to find compliments for family and loved ones, even for your Mother-in-Law. (Tip: She's probably a good cook.)
    • Friends are friends because you see something good about them. Here's an easy compliment to a friend: "Wow, you're very intelligent...you choose your friends wisely".
    • It's more challenging to compliment your boss, or people you don't like. Take up the challenge, and find a compliment for them today, too.
Remember: Mama said "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything". After a long search for something good, if you just can't find a compliment for them, then silence is golden.
Compliment Day is celebrated by offering sincere compliments to people you know. It is important that you are sincere. People will see right through insincerity, and you will do more harm than good.
How many compliments should you give out today? The common suggestion is five compliments. Yes, they should be to five different people.

Opposite Day, also known as Opposites Day, is a word game where speech is modified so that meaning is inverted. Once Opposite Day is declared, statements mean the opposite of what they usually mean. Usually, a person would say, "After this phrase is over, it will be officially opposite day," and then Opposite Day will be officially started. Opposite Day can also be declared retroactively (after a statement) to indicate that the opposite meaning of what was said should be inferred. Opposite day games are usually played by schoolchildren.
In the sense that opposite day "excuses" untrue statements, it is similar to the notion that crossed fingers automatically nullify promises. Several authors have noted the children's game. Play has been compared to a children's "philosophy course", and the game has been used as an educational aid and suggested as preparation for "standardized testing

Spouses Day is always on January 26th
Military Spouses Day is held on the Friday before Mother's Day
Spouse's Day is a time to enjoy and appreciate your better half. You can use this day as a prelude or warm up to Valentine's Day, perhaps. But, its not as much of a gift giving event. Rather, use it as a time to show your spouse that you care and appreciate all of the things that he/she does for you and for the household. Over the long years of a relationship, its easy to take for granted the many things your spouse does. He/she's always there. They do so many big and little things as a routine event. So, take today to notice and to say thanks. As for the "enjoyment" part of the day...we will leave that up to you to enjoy your spouse however the two of your desire....
Military Spouses Day is a day to recognize and honor the real backbone of the military..... the spouses of our soldiers. This day recognizes the contributions made by military spouses to the spirit and well being of soldiers and military communities. Where would military moral be without their spouses behind them?

Chocolate Cake Day is a a chocolate lovers delight, and a day to eat cake. Why this a day to "bake your chocolate cake....and eat it, too!"
On this day, a white or yellow cake will not do. Nor, will part chocolate, part white suffice. It must be chocolate, all chocolate. You can make milk chocolate, dark chocolate, fudge, or any other type of chocolate cake.
This day is for you, and all chocolate lovers.
There are three objectives of Chocolate Cake Day: To bake a chocolate cake. To decorate a chocolate cake. And, to eat a chocolate cake. Of course, if you are to busy to bake or decorate a cake, then just eating a chocolate cake will certainly do!

Every once in a while, you come upon a special day that just defies definition. Punch the Clock Day is one of those days.

This holiday celebrates the system of calculating employee work hours through the Punch Clock system and it's invention. On this holiday you are encouraged to share a day of celebration at your work place. Management needs to have plenty of coffee, tea and doughnuts in the break room so you and all your work mates can get together on your coffee break and celebrate the punch clock.

Punch The Clock Day celebrates the system of calculating employee work hours through the Punch Clock system. Take this opportunity to express your special feelings for any colleague of yours.
Smart as we are (tee, hee), we quickly surmised that Punch the Clock Day is a day to celebrate the punch clock or time clocks used at work. Now, we wondered, why celebrate the punch clock............??

National Kazoo Day is celebrated on January 28 each year. This is a fun holiday for kids to adults to celebrate. To get started celebrating all one has to do is play along with their Kazoo to some favorite songs. Or make their own kind of music with the Kazoo. Actually, the Kazoo has a long and interesting history. Did you know that the Kazoo was an American invention? And the mighty Kazoo has been a part of American culture since the 1840's. It's true! Celebrate National Kazoo Day by learning a bit about the Kazoo, how to play the instrument, and starting a Kazoo marching band.

International Fun at Work Day : Always April 1st
Fun at Work Day is a day to have fun at work for once. Ideally, work should be fun. But normally, work is not intended to have fun. It's intended to get work done. You're a very lucky person, if you if you can get work done and have fun doing it. The lucky souls in this situation, love their job.
Unfortunately, all of us are not lucky enough to have a job that's fun to do. If that's you, then today is a day just for you! Think of ways to make your job more fun and exciting. Look to do some fun things at work today, even if it takes away from production just a wee bit.
Please Note: If you do fun things today that is counter-productive, or takes you away from the job, make sure you get your boss' permission first. Better still, get him or her involved.
